Jinx77 0 #1 May 21, 2009 Hi All, I started my AFF course 2 weeks ago. Was supposed to only do 1 jump and ended up doing 4 over the weekend!! This is definitely my new addiction. I love the thrill and exhiliration of free falling and the the awe-inspiring power of piloting my chute in. I haven't yet landed on my feet, but I'll get there :) I really like the people I've met so far, and look forward to meeting more from all over the world. Yours in flight, Jinx77
skymama 37 #2 May 21, 2009 Welcome to the forums! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
amma 0 #3 May 21, 2009 Glad you enjoy it. I understand the addiction. I fractured my foot in the middle of AFF, got up to level 3, non skydiving related btw, so I'm out for 6 weeks. Its killing me, I can't wait to get back. Good luck on the rest of your jumps.
Jinx77 0 #4 May 22, 2009 I'm not sure, I think it's a combination of looking straight down and not at a 45 degree angle and also having goggles that are not very clear. Don't seem to be able to judge correctly. Next time a friend of mine said I can use his goggles, and I'll make an effort to look up more, so we'll see if that makes a difference. Any advice for me? skymama 37 #5 May 22, 2009 Looking down instead of out can definitely screw-up your landing. When I was having trouble, I learned to hesitate just a half-second or so after I thought I should flare to when I actually flared. Now, don't go trying that and break a leg or anything because you flared too low and tell people that Skymama told you to do it. That's just what worked for me. Also, are you sure you're finishing your flare all the way? Having too much forward speed can also lead to a tumble.
