Question on buying my first canopy...

Recommended Posts

I have 120 jumps and they were all in the last 2 months...I just bought an infinity container and now im trying to figure out what canopy i want to get...Right now it is between the Safire2 and a Pilot....I'm leaning toward the Safire2...What are some of your opinions on what I should do...

Also...right now I'm jumping a 149 but I was wondering if I should wait till I go to a 139 to buy a canopy or should I just get a 149 and sell it when I downsize....

what do you think?

If you're comfortable on the 149, by it. Don't worry about the eventual buying of another canopy. Believe me if you're in the sport a while you'll buy alot of canopies in the next few years.

I prefer the Pilot. Cost and performance wise I like the canopy better, but buy what you like, which one do you fly better?

well i like the landings and the openings of the Safire2...

the safire2 seems to be a little more agressive and "fun"

Sounds like you have an answer.

From a customer service standpoint I can't complain about Aerodyne at all. They are top Notch.

In the end if you fly the Safire better and are getting consistantly better results from it, well that's what you ought to buy.

If you come down to San Diego or contact Wyatt down there I am sure you will have the chance to demo that canopy. I know they have two on hand at the DZ.
Not to mention you will get the experience of the new DZ.

Justin, you ought to check out San Diego sometime. It's a really pretty place. Maybe when we head down there for a wingsuit weekend.......

There doesn't seem to be too many Pilots on the used market...It is hard for younger jumpers to justify spending 1500 bucks on a canopy, not knowing what they like, what they want to get into, etc. I think that is why the Sabre is so popular, there are tons of used ones to buy.
...FUN FOR ALL!
