smiiithy 0 #1 January 9, 2012 Hi guys, My name is Mike, I'm 23 and from Northumberland in England. My New Years Resolution is to jump out of an aeroplane. I've been meaning to try skydiving for a while, but don't know anybody involved in the sport and just never booked it. I've been in touch with Skydive Academy in Peterlee and the prices seem pretty reasonable so it's definitely happening in 2012. I'm inclining towards a static line for my first jump. I like the idea of my first jump to being on my own. I'm thinking about doing a charity skydive as my first jump as it would be good to raise some money for a good cause whilst having fun! Looking forward to talking with you all and maybe meeting a few of you. All the best, Mike

smiiithy 0 #3 April 8, 2012 Did my static line training yesterday but conditions weren't right to jump I know it's part of the sport but it's so disappointing when you've built up to it all day. I was wondering, if I go on to do AFF how often do I have to jump to stay current and not have to re-train?
obelixtim 150 #4 April 8, 2012 As a matter of interest, what type of gear are you jumping on your SL jump. SL jumpers are often able to do more jumps thatn AFF if weather (clouds) are a factor. If you are getting into jumping, its not something you want to do occassionally. Full on is the way to go. Not being current is a factor in accidents. If you jump intermittedly, retraining will be up to the instructors. How much you have to do depends on the time since your last jump.My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing....
smiiithy 0 #5 April 8, 2012 I honestly couldn't tell you as I'm new to the sport. All I know is it's a very large square parachute with ram air design. Here is the link to the course I did: http://www.skydiveacademy.org.uk/static-line-raps-course-and-jump.html.
