Ready to jump again.

Recommended Posts

Hello. A novice to the forum and the sport.

Gained my A licence last November (incredibly and uncomfortable cold Level 8 though :S ) and feeling the need to jump once again now that the weather here in the UK seems to be brightening up.

I wonder if this is unique: I noticed throughout my AFF course I felt very nervous when in the plane and setting up but the very split second I fall out I am incredibly and totally calm. Is this nervous anxiety? Impatient excitement? Restless Lemming Syndrome? Que?

When I'm out I'm pretty calm that I'm able to gain stability almost immediately. Is this a normal situation? I'm assuming it is.

Hello once again.

it was for me. every jump was the same thing, sweating, nauseous, shaking, sick feeling. ESPECIALLY at the door. i could barely see straight i was so terrified. the second i got out though, all was GREAT. total bliss. id guess its normal. just keep jumping, they(read: damn near everyone) say it goes away eventually, usually after around 150 jumps or so. :)
EDIT: im not sure if it was the bumpy plane ride or the fact that i was fixing to jump out of a "perfectly good(yeah right)" plane, so i got a job as a long distance flight paramedic, and cured that small plane fear FAST, haha. who knew that 4 hrs(avg trip) in a king air 90 & 200 would cure that ;)

some day ill get back into jumping, hopefully with a bit clearer head, and ill get to have a bit more fun on the ride up. but i never regretted a second of it.

good luck, and just relax and have fun with it! :)

this is the link to the skydiving duck cartoons, created as a documentary by Namowal. one, they are absolutely hilarious and extraordinarily well written, but will also help show that what you are going through is normal.

Landing procedure: Hand all the way up, Feet and Knees Together and PLF soon as you get bitch slapped by a planet.

Yeah I have the same stuff going on. Not physically sick but basically really freaked out. Once I'm out I feel good, really good! I have 13 jumps and it's going away quick. My friend with 200 said enjoy while it lasts and thats how I look at it. It's fun to push past it and get comfy in the wide open!:P

Welcome to the forums! :) It'll probably also be a little worse for you since you've had some time off, but I bet it will get better when you're jumping regularly.

But he just said just jump out however i want and he'll come to me we ended up making 2 points it was pretty cool, so anyways yea just keep jumping and know that it will take however many jumps it take for you untill it goes away untill then its totally normal and nuthing to get u down:)

Will hopefully be jumping again this weekend but I have to wait for my renewed membership card to come through first...and it's excellent weather forecasted as well, so hopefully everything goes well. I really can't wait! :)
