Yonskil 0 #1 May 20, 2013 Hi, I am a starter and want to do the BPA license (AFF + solo jumps). I have been given a quote of £2k by a school in Ocana and feel its a bit high. Would anyone suggest good schools in Europe that do this for a more reasonable price?
Quagmirian 40 #2 May 20, 2013 £2K may not be so bad depending on what's included. Have you had a chat with Scotty? http://www.activeskydiving.co.uk/
shorehambeach 9 #3 May 21, 2013 Hey Yonskil, This is a good time to start in the UK. Where are you based ?
kenthediver 0 #4 May 21, 2013 Yonskil, depends if you want a BPA or USPA licence. I think the only 2 in europe that do BPA (ouotside of UK) is FFU and EmpuriaBrava. Costs will be similar. You need to also factor in - costs of consolidation jumps (10 of them!), costs of re-doing any level of AFF - maybe budget for 1 or 2 - if you get through without any re-jumps then you are quids in, look at food and beer (beer is very important!!), and also daily transfers to the DZ - Ocana charge - IIRC - 9 euros a day transfer. Good luck.
UweGold 0 #5 May 21, 2013 Good luck! Can't recommend highly enough Skydive Spain in Sevilla. Get in touch with them, they offer BPA AFF courses that include airport transfers, accommodation, DZ transfers each day, fast aircraft to 15,000ft and fantastic BPA & USPA instructors / BPA Advanced Instructors. And should you get hit with a bit of bad weather, the tickets can be used at Skydive Hibaldstow in the UK. Skydive Spain... it pretty much sells itself!! Yonskil 0 #6 May 21, 2013 Thanks All for your advise, I'll def speak to your suggested contacts. BTW, I also spoke to Freefall uni in Ocana today, would you guys have any opinion on them? They seem to do the BPA as well
kenthediver 0 #7 May 22, 2013 I wrote about my experiences with them - 3rd or 4th page pf this forum - I recommend them - but it is where I have trained. Other people will no doubt recommend where they trained. All the DZ's will be good - find where you feel comfortable and go there! It's your money - your life - your decision. altichick 1 #9 May 22, 2013 Have a look at www.skydivespain.com they do BPA & have a UK centre in case you don't get finished in Spain. Don't sweat the petty things... and don't pet the sweaty things!
