FlyingRhenquest 1 #2 July 1, 2013 Cool. You'll stand up when you're ready. I was in my mid 30s before I had a really stable exit and after that all my exits have been stable, and in my mid 50s before I had a really good stand up landing. Once it clicks, it seems easy. Before that, not so much.I'm trying to teach myself how to set things on fire with my mind. Hey... is it hot in here?
joelgibson 0 #3 July 1, 2013 good to know, all the other affs at my DZ seem to stand up 2 or 3 out of 7. My last landing was weird because of thermals. I entered downwind at 800, Base at 500, Final at 200 and landed 600 feet past the target, at one point i was at 230 on final. My exits are still a bit lame. It's always perfect posture for the 1st second, then I look down for half a second, then I look up at the plane until i'm off the hill. I fall really fast too. Averaging 45 seconds from 12,500SCR 15113 USPA Coach-C Hellfish 1004

Averaging 45 seconds from 12,500 I think I stood up one out of my first 20 or so. The 45 second thing will change when you start pulling at 3500. You'll get a lot closer to 60 second ff. FlyingRhenquest 1 #6 July 1, 2013 Yeah, it takes a while to get the hang of exits. I was watching a canopy course with a bunch of the students on coach status today and about half of them dove out toward the tail. I'm pretty sure I was doing that early on, too. Having your ass to the relative wind makes it LOT harder to do a stable exit -- 130 jumps in I still have trouble staying stable when I exit that way as well. Face the prop, it works much better. Eventually you get to the point where you start to understand the wind and your relationship to it, and then a lot of that stuff just starts to click into place.I'm trying to teach myself how to set things on fire with my mind. skymama 37 #10 July 3, 2013 Quote All of the above, but all on different landings! So, do you know where you are looking when you are about to flare? Are you looking out ahead of you or are you looking down at where you think you're going to land? I'm not an instructor, but I always mess up when I look down! Might be something to go over with your instructor.
