collier1234 0 #1 July 9, 2013 Hello everyone! Well Just recently passed my AFF course here in Italy while im stationed here. Figured it would be a good experience to be able to jump over Venice! Im already at 15 Jumps and progressing towards my A licence. Im looking to buy some equipment Ex. Full Face Helmet, Digital Altimeter, Suit since the drop zones smells like B.O. haha if anyone knows of anyone selling any and wants to sell some to a broke military member let me know! haha but other than that I love this sport and hope to meet some people at some competitions one day! FlyingRhenquest 1 #2 July 9, 2013 I know exactly what you mean! My first purchases were a helmet, used altimeter and a jumpsuit. I couldn't find a jumpsuit in my size until I was mostly through my coaching jumps and my coaches wouldn't let me jump in street clothes. After every skydive I wanted to go home and take a shower, even if I was doing another skydive that day! Those jump suits make you smell like AFF student, a piquant aroma of fear, sweat and urine that just makes you itch all over! Don't go all crazy on your gear! You can get an open face helmet that works very, and goggles, for a lot less than a full face one. I jumped an open face helmet all winter and was fine with it. And I lost the top shelf expensive helmet I bought before I even got out of coaching! Even though my coach and I had BOTH checked the strap several times! I get cheap skydiver goggles on amazon.com. You can usually find three-packs. They're more comfortable than the AFF goggles you get at the DZ and at the price you pay it doesn't really matter if you lose a pair or they get too scratched up to use. They can easily last 100 skydives or more if you take care of them, though. Check around your DZ to see if anyone has a used digital altimeter they're selling. Maybe you have a gear guy at the DZ who can help you out. I finally did find a decent jumpsuit on the shelf at my DZ. That was about a year ago. Between 140 jumps and two and a half hours in the wind tunnel it's starting to get beat up now. I've got a couple of places it needs to be patched. I want to talk to the local rigging guy about making it a bit baggier and I'll probably have him put a couple of patches on it at the same time. Being able to sew is a huge advantage in this sport!I'm trying to teach myself how to set things on fire with my mind. Hey... is it hot in here? collier1234 0 #3 July 9, 2013 im sure some of the guys at the DZ have some extra stuff they would sell but since im in Italy it would have to be in Euro and they sell stuff here at the same price it would be in Dollars but in Euros. For example there selling a Factory Diver for 245 euro when i have seen the same one for 240 dollars. Thats why I ask if anyone has any and i didnt see the classifieds section before i posted that haha. I would rather buy it from the states and wait a little while for it to get here then spend the extra amount for the euro conversion.

collier1234 0 #5 July 10, 2013 skymama Welcome to the forums! The view is amazing. when it isnt to humid you can see the Dolomite mountains and the coast of the Adriatic sea. You can see Venice City and also a few other Cities. My JM's at the drop zone are very strict with the use of cameras if you dont have your A license yet so whenever they decide to let me jump with it i will take a video of me looking around so you guys can check it out! If you ever Visit Italy make sure you bring your stuff and visit Skydive Venice. The staff is awesome and they are one huge skydive family.
skymama 37 #6 July 12, 2013 Visiting Italy is on my bucket list. Definitely post a video for us, but only when you've been deemed safe to jump with it. And before you jump with a camera, check out some of the threads on that subject. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
