pullhigh 0 #1 June 29, 2004 I am fixing to be forced to buy a new RW jumpsuit or two as my current ones are completely worn out. I was interested in hearing from some of the larger jumpers about who's jumpsuit they are using, and what they like or dislike about it. I am wanting something with a ton of extra drag to slow my fall rate down. Any thoughts from the big boys out there? Ganja
bsoder 0 #2 June 29, 2004 I got my suit from Bev Suits, the Polycotton Suit which has the description of "For the mature skydiver with a lower center of gravity, or the faster-falling skydiver." IE. big guys. I got it with swoop cords and afterburners which are pockets on the legs that help slow you down. I also didn't get the inside-the-chest pocket, instead I got one put on the outside of each thigh. Things I like: it's well built, everything seems really strong, I'm not concerned about it falling apart at the seams, etc. The swoop cords really work, that little bit of extra drag does come in handy. Things I dislike: I don't like the material that was used for the cuffs on the wrists. It snags on the velcro of my gloves and is getting kinda frayed out. Once it gets really bad, I'll take it to a local tailor and have the cuffs replaced with something non-stretchy that I can velcro shut. I also did not get booties, and kinda wish I had; however, since I didn't, the suit just ended straight-legged at the bottom of the legs, no elastic or anything. I ended up threading a stretch cord through each leg cuff so that I could tighten them down so they don't end up falling down over my shoes when I'm not wearing my rig. Overall I'm pretty happy with it, I'd buy another suit from them.

nightjumps 1 #4 June 29, 2004 FliteSuit specializes in an RW suit that has a ZP wing that can be tailored in size to fit the larger jumpers. I needed something that was a "cool" as in temperature on the body for hot 100+ Oklahoma/Texas days in the summer, so I got a supplex torso (polycotton gets sweaty and hot fast) With the RW ZP wing FliteSuit, at 6'6" 240#, I can vary my fall range from 107-130 MPH without swoop cords. By flying in the Mantis position, the tighter I bring my hands in to my chin and the harder I dig my elbows out, the more the wing slows me down. The more I push my hands out (boxmanish) and elbows in, the more relaxed the ZP wing and the faster I can go. I can jump with 5'2" girls that are <130# or guys that are 6' and 250# and remain relative without much input. It takes a few jumps to get the movements to rote and not have to think about it. darkwing 5 #5 June 29, 2004 Lose some weight you fat bastard! (I can talk to him like that since he is my teammate). Consider getting doubled fabric in the arms, more rigid fabric has more drag. Get a cordura butt, too. It won't make you fall slower, but it will help address the wear problem there. I like a lot about the Michigan suits, but we have had several recent cases of customer dissatisfaction with them. I have a bodysport suit, but have never been happy with it either. Is Wendy going to build suits again, ever? Large (often called competition size) grippers will add drag also. -- Jeff My Skydiving History

I also use this suit with 2 differences: - I ordered it with the material doubled, so it is even more effective. - I ordered freefly cuffs on the legs, so I can also use it for FF. It makes a very nice all-purpose suit."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. RyanofOZ 0 #7 June 29, 2004 I had Skybytch (Lisa) order me a Flite Suit with freefly leg cuffs, baggy legs, and extra material in the arms. She also put on the form that I needed to "slow down" big time. I am thrilled with the suit and can use it for RW and freefly with no problems. I would have a look at what they can make for you, I love mine.Oz
pullhigh 0 #8 June 30, 2004 Yeah, it seems like everyone I've talked to about there Michigan suit lately has been unhappy with the way it fit. I'd say it was a measureing issue, but everyone's seems to fit badly in different areas. And from those I have talked to, the service after the sale wasn't exactly up to my standards.
