Infinity Container Options

Recommended Posts

I'm getting ready to purchase an Infinity container, and I have the order form in front of me. I have some questions about the different options available and although I will ask them at Square One, I want to get as many opinions as possible. Want to know which options people went with and why. So here goes:

Materials: Back pad & inside of leg pads - choice of cordura or para-pak.

Main deployment: leg-mount, pull-out, BOC, rip cord.

Main pilot chute: standard with hackey handle or kill-line with hackey handle.

Harness: leg strap hardware - thread-thru, b-12 snaps, double wide leg strap webbing, articulated harness.

Risers: Type 17 (narrow) or type 8 (wide).

3-Rings: standard, mini, stainless steel.

You should check out the infinity thread down the page, I think it pretty much covers all of your questions. Here's a list of what I ordered keep in mind im a 23 jump chump but I did alot of research prior to my order.

Materials - I went with parapak because its supposed to wear less on your jumpsuit and is somewhat cooler- Pro. It may cause some slippage-con.

Main Deployment- BOC, its how I learned and what I'm confortable with.

Main pilot chute- kill line with hackey, no parasitic drag on your open chute-pro. Better make sure you "cock" it correctly to avoid pilot chut in tow malfunctions.- con

Harness- Standard friction adapters with double wide leg pads for comfort. I don't think anyone uses B-12's anymore. Also the articulation its a great option for comfort and I got that as well.

Risers - I went with mini risers due to my relatively low weight.

3 ring - I got stainless for everything on my rig.

All of that being said when you order your container through the gear dealer of your choice they'll walk you through all of these options.

Which thread do you mean? I looked at other threads and did a search before posting this, found a lot of threads about how much people loved their Infinitys and what a great container it is. After demoing diffferent containers I've already decided on the Infinity, but just want opinions on the options.

Yeah, that is a great thread. I actually had previously printed the entire thread, in color, including the pics. Like you, I tend to do a lot of research before making a big purchase.

There are a few threads about it but that's ok.
Here's my suggestions. If you wish to know why I choose them, feel free to ask.

Materials: Back pad & inside of leg pads - choice of cordura or para-pak.

>>Parapac

Main deployment: leg-mount, pull-out, BOC, rip cord.

>>BOC

Main pilot chute: standard with hackey handle or kill-line with hackey handle.

>>Kill line with Hackey

Harness: leg strap hardware - thread-thru, b-12 snaps, double wide leg strap webbing, articulated harness.

>>thread through.
>>lower articulated
>>I like double wide but I've heard that women are less likely to care for the double wide.

Risers: Type 17 (narrow) or type 8 (wide).
(how tall are you?)
>>Type 17

3-Rings: standard, mini, stainless steel.

>> Mini's
>>Stainless . (if you can afford it)

Why do you prefer parapac for the backpad and leg pads?

The reason I was given for parapac on the inside of the leg straps and backpack is due to the reduced wear and tear on your jumpsuit i.e. its smoother and that its a "cooler" fabric than cordura meaning you don't get as hot wearing it. The one disadvantage might be some slipping in the legs pags but from what I've heard its either a non issue or something that a lil bungy between the leg straps will fix.

Well I do. I got them on my new G4 last summer and love them for the convenience.

No hopping around trying to get in to your rig.

I also wingsuit quite a bit and its great taking the legstraps off after landing without having to remove the wingsuit.

It is seen as a bit old school but will probably some day in the future come back into vogue.

Ditto. I LOVE the B-12s on my Infinity. Makes getting in & out of the rig extremely easy.

The double-wide legstraps meet in the middle for a lot of people (including me) when they walk. For guys, this pinching can be a minor issue. For gals this can be unacceptable. You might want to try one on with the wide legstraps to find out.

The Cordura vs. Para-pak thing should be documented in searchable threads, and I think it boils down to: para-pak: cooler, smoother/slipperier; cordura: rough and tough (just the way I like it ;)).

If you get a light color webbing, I think the plating on the standard hardware oxydizes and rubs off on the webbing behind the harness 3-ring ring which makes it look dirty. I personally plan to pay the extra $ and get stainless hardware next time solely to avoid this issue. (On dark webbing it's not so noticeable.)

Ask if they have any more of those ghetto 3-color kill line pilot chutes. I got one and everyone thinks it's cool.

I think the 3-rings size and riser size are covered in the "Post yer Infinity" thread, and certainly the deployment type is covered somewhere.
