dmace 0 #1 July 14, 2004 Hi I'm in the market for getting a new canopy. I'm currently living in France and quite a few people are jumping springo's. I will be demoing one hopefully in a few weeks but demoing a sabre2 might take some time. Just wondering if anybody can give me some heads up/experience between the two? Will be looking for around a 140. Done a search but can't find a post comparing the two. Thanks!
dragon2 2 #2 July 14, 2004 The Springo is a high-performance canopy (like a Stiletto), the Sabre2 is an intermediate canopy (sorta like the french Merit/Electra, probably a bit more performance tho, comparable to Safire/Safire2). So the two are in two different classes. The Springo does come in 140 sqft, the Sabre2 doesn't (135 or 150). ciel bleu, Saskia
Chrisky 0 #3 July 14, 2004 Haven't jumped a Springo, but did jump a Sabre 2. A buddy of mine was demoing a Springo for a couple of jumps and then got rid of it because he didn't like it (don't know the reason why...). I was comparing the Sabre 2 to the Paratec Faqtor, which i preferred over the Sabre 2. It is a very good canopy in the advanced range between the Sabre2 and HP canopies, with very good slow flight and fun dive/swoop capability. Just call/email Paratec for a demo, should be easy to get it to France from Germany. The mind is like a parachute - it only works once it's open. From the edge you just see more. ... Not every Swooper hooks & not every Hooker swoops ...

Call the Parachute case or the Fallschirmdepot, they will post the canopy to you at a very modest cost so you can demo it. If you're planning to boogy on down to Empuriabrava, check if the guys from Icarus will be there -- if you're looking at the SabreII (which in my personal opinion is OK except for the super-sucky openings) you also want to demo a Safire. The Parachute also has some Icarus canopies in their demo lineup but I don't know if they'll post those too -- best check I guess.
Dazzle 0 #5 July 15, 2004 Parachute case are cool, I just got a demo Katana from them. Don't forget the sizing differences between pd and pdf, search for the details but a pdf 140 would be smaller than a pd 140. Seeing as you're in france then there should be lots of demos at the Espace Boogie in just a couple of weeks.
