Mr.g 0 #1 July 20, 2004 Hello, From my container manual: “The maximum force exerted by the bridle on the curved pin must not be more then 6 daN. For Safety the minimum force exerted must not be less then 4 daN." What is the unit daN ? Respect my authoritah!
wzettler 0 #2 July 20, 2004 The N is for Newtons 1 Newton = 0.2248 lbs 1 daN = 10 Newtons Thats my best guess anyway... I think when Jesus said "love your enemy" he probably meant don't kill them.

SI prefices should go in powers of three (nano, micro, milli, (none), kilo, mega, giga...... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. Mr.g 0 #5 July 20, 2004 Thanks for you answers. Now for my next question: If you were asked to test a container on this criteria how would you do it? My best guess would be to hold the container upside down and horizontal and then hang weights on the bridal. Respect my authoritah!

skydiverton 0 #7 July 23, 2004 1 decaNewton. This is sometimes used because it is about the force 1 Kg generates in earth gravity. So you will need a force of about 1daN to lift 1Kg (2.2lbs) This method of indicating a force is not commonly used any more, but some companies still do. This was the last serious question I've answered today. It is almost weekend here in europe and the weather is GOOD!!!!!!!! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
masher 1 #8 July 27, 2004 But people who are converting to SI seem to always go overboard on the prefixs... . oh yeah, skydiverton, kilo -> k. Not K. Just a pet hate of mine...-- Arching is overrated - Marlies

Don't get me started on conversions! It's so annoying to see something like: "The field was about 328.08 feet long"... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
