barrymaple 0 #1 August 12, 2004 I´m looking to do my master riggers course early next year. I only hold foreign rigging ratings, so would probably need to spend time with the examiner to convert these ratings. Does anyone know a good examiner to do the course with? masterrig 1 #2 August 12, 2004 You might try calling Rigging Innovations and talk with Sandy Reid. He should be able to get you headed in the right direction. He also holds Senior and Master Rigger Schools (U.S. Academy of Parachute Rigging) . Also, there is Dave DeWolf, who also holds rigger certification classes. riggerrob 643 #4 August 13, 2004 Please complete your profile, so we can understand which nation issued your rigging credentials. The FAA does not require Master Rigger applicants to attend specific schools or follow any set curriculum, Any FAA Master Rigger can write you a letter of recommendation to take the oral and practical tests. For example,my Master Rigger test included patching a ram-air canopy. The task started with re-assembling and adjusting a sewing machine. The damage was so close to a line attachment point that I had to replace a reinforcing tape, then reclose a load-bearing seam and re-attach the line attachment tape. My last practical task involved sewing a WW stitch pattern on some sample webbing. I suspect the examiner cut me some slack on harness/container repairs since she had seen some of the hundred rigs that I had repaired in the preceding year. My test concluded with quizing on the limits of an FAA Master Rigger certificate and identifying 3 dozen material samples. The secret is finding an FAA Master Rigger who has a lot of major repairs flowing through his loft and is willing to teach you. The other trick is finding a Master Rigger who has the personality to teach. I would offer to teach you - like I did when I worked at Rigging Innovations - but not many major repairs flow through my loft these days.

I assume you asking barrymaple to update his/her profile? .....and Tom can do all you posted. He has a complete loft and repairs and builds many components. He is also and instructor examiner for both ratings."America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."
