>Even Bill Booth has expressed his dissatisfaction with the conventional RSL

And John Sherman has expressed his dissatisfaction with one-pin reserves and one-sided RSL's. And Jo Smolders has expressed his dissatisfaction with the Cypres. And here's a shocker - DZ's that offer only AFF often express dissatisfaction with static line training!

RSL's save lives far, far more often than they put them at risk. The moderate number of deaths that could have been prevented by RSL's pales in comparison to the large number of deaths that _were_ avoided, although we rarely hear about them. There are very few valid reasons not to use them - and again, these reasons are exceptions.

There are also a lot of people who do not like them for subjective personal or philosophical reasons, and that's fine too; they can use whatever they like. They are not objectively valid reasons though.

You repeated yourself...'prevented vs avoided'

Anyway, so you discount BB's advice because he has a business interest involved. That is really an insult to him, and says very poor things about you. I can agree with Sherman about the problems of one-sided RSLs without having to agree with his solution or claim that he's making those assertions because of business interests. That is really crappy of you.

People will honestly, and with integrity, disagree on such matters because the answer isn't as clear cut as you describe it.
People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

Knowing the potential dangers and potential benefits and making an informed choice is an "objectively valid reason" even if you do not agree with it.

Blindly jumping an RSL without consideration of the potential dangers is not objectively valid reasoning.

Not at all. He's a smart guy, and worth listening to. I just don't worship him, and I think that, like many people, his perception of what works and what doesn't is colored by the solutions he has worked very hard on. When you've spent a good part of your life trying to solve the problems inherent in a system, those problems are going to be paramount in your mind.

I don't worship him. I don't want a skyhook on my rig.

You are objectively wrong.
