Namowal 0 #1 October 6, 2011 I've been posting cartoons about my tandem and beginning AFF jumps in the "Introductions" forum, but it's been suggested I post them here, even though I'm far from a liscenced skydiver. So if you haven't seen them, and want to follow my misadventures (I'm a natural chicken so this doesn't come easy for me) here they are. SkyDiving Duck: Chicken of the Sky SkyDiving Duck III: Parachuting School (Chicken of the Sky, AFF version) Skydiving Duck IV: Shakes on a Plane (AFF Level 2) Skydiving Duck V: Altitude! Altitude! Altitude! (AFF 3, attempt 1)) Skydiving Duck IV: AFF 3: Take two, with a TwistMy blog with the skydiving duck cartoons.

Baksteen 84 #4 October 6, 2011 I just LOVE the flappity-flappity-flappity you wrote next to your slider. I well remember my early skydiving days and although I didn't do AFF many things you describe are absolutely recognisable. Keep 'em coming! Your stories are awesome! wildcard451 0 #5 October 6, 2011 These are excellent. I would actually suggest you contact Blue SKies Mag to see if they would be interested in putting something in print. They are always looking for alternative content. Great perspective from a new flyer. Entertaining as hell too.
charlie5 0 #7 October 6, 2011 Nice to see you keeping up with the jumps and the cartoons. I like the twist giving the finger. The feather butts bounce off ya like raindrops hitting a battle-star when they come in too fast...kinda funny to watch. - airtwardo
Namowal 0 #8 October 6, 2011 QuoteNice to see you keeping up with the jumps and the cartoons. It's funny, after my first few jumps I was so overwhelmed that I didn't want anything to do with skydiving immediately afterward. It'd think This is crazy stuff! I'm obviously not skydiving material! Then a I'd slowly start wanting to do it again as the days went by... ...now I'm trying to jump at least once a week. Hoping to get the nerve to do more than one jump per day eventually... Quote I like the twist giving the finger. I think of line twists like bratty kids- annoying but manageable. Not looking forward to my first "real" malfunction (that is, a cutaway situation) but if I handle it properly I'll (probably!) live to have fun with the drawing. And thanks Marinus, Wildcard451, Baksteen, guineapiggie101 and Trigirl. My blog with the skydiving duck cartoons.
hcsvader 1 #9 October 6, 2011 You capture the tormenting humour of skydiving so well! Please continue with your art! ILUVCHUTERS 1 #11 October 6, 2011 These are really great! Very funny (I'm a natural chicken too, so I totally understand. In fact, I'm afraid of airplanes...not so much anymore, but still...)
ryoder 1,590 #12 October 6, 2011 I happened across your articles a few weeks ago; OUTSTANDING!!! Some of the funniest stuff I've read since Airtwardo's posts, but with much better pictures! ILUVCHUTERS 1 #15 October 6, 2011 Hey, Namowal, can you PM me? I want to ask your permission to use a couple of these in a little skydiving newsletter I do (and give the details of same) ...your profile says you don't accept PMs... thanks!!
AggieDave 6 #16 October 6, 2011 Nicely drawn! Much like Muscleheadz are the cartoons printed in the back of some muscle mags, maybe you could be the cartoon printed in the back of Blue Skies Magazine? sunkenstate 0 #17 October 6, 2011 Brilliant! I'm not long out of AFF and am still well in the middle of your freakout-o-meter. I agree with the above - get some of this in Parachutist or some other publication! Maybe they'll do a mini-series with a new episode every month or something. PiLFy 3 #18 October 7, 2011 "Flare This" w/a Birdie?!?! You were considerably more reserved in the earlier cartoons, Jennifer. I think someone has been hanging around 'Snore after the beer light comes on ... Nice cartoons! Keep 'em coming.
iowa 0 #19 October 7, 2011 You draw and describe exactly how I felt almost 27 years and 3600+ jumps ago. One of the local skygods took me aside after my 23rd jump and said "Keith, you're not good, but you're damned determined." It gets better! Keith ''Always do sober what you said you would do drunk. wolfriverjoe 1,523 #25 October 7, 2011 Thanks for posting (again). These are fabulous. And you did great on the release, once you got arched properly. No chipping or turning, nice and stable. Great Job!!! Please keep the story going. One thought - Ryoder wrote: Quote Some of the funniest stuff I've read since Airtwardo's posts, but with much better pictures!
