wolfriverjoe 1,523 #26 February 22, 2017 9 cars/trucks plus 4 motor cycles. 6 cars were daily drivers, 3 were summer 'fun' cars. 78 Pontiac Sunbird right out of High School. V-6 & 4 speed made it a lot of fun. Beat the crap out of it and ended up junking it. 83 Full size Chevy 4x4 pickup. Drove it for about 8 years. Replace the motor with a junkyard 350, built it up (headers, intake & carb, cam) as it wore out. Box was really rusted and I sold it. 83 Chev Celebrity that was my folks car. Bought it from them for next to nothing. Motor, trans, brakes, steering were all on the way out. Sold it to a work friend who fixed all the mechanicals (body & interior were very nice) and made a bit of money selling it. 92 Saturn. Bought it new. Nice car. But I missed having 4 wheel drive and decent clearance in the Wisconsin winter. Sold it to a work friend for his wife. 97 ZR2 Blazer (the S-10 sized one). Bought new, special order. Only one with a 5 speed that I ever saw. Great truck. Had it for 18 years, sold it 2 years ago. 85 Toyota MR2. Paid $300 for it, put another $300 for a water pump & alternator. Awesome car. Total go kart. 2 seater, mid engine. Not super powerful but super small & light. Very rusty. Sold it after a year to a neighbor. He drove it for a year and then the front suspension fell apart. 83 Porsche 944. Saw it sitting in a lot when I had the MR2. Took a look and test drive and was hooked. Kind of beat up, repaired wreck (body not quite straight) but a lot of fun. Did a fair amount of work on it, still have it. 85 Porsche 928. (This is the same model that 'went swimming' in "Risky Business") After owning the 944 for 7 years or so, decided I wanted to upgrade and after a bit of research, the 928 was the best 'bang for the buck'. Found a good online community, lots of support, advice and parts. Looked around for a while and found this one. It's taken a good bit of work, but I drove it out to California with my mom back in 2014/ Awesome roadtrip in a car that's designed for long distance, high speed luxury cruising. Tried to sell the 944, but no buyers. It has issues and nobody was willing to pay my ask. So I had 2, plus the Blazer for work and winter. 05 Porsche Cayenne Turbo (the SUV). The online forum for the 928 is a good group. Some guys have more than one. Some have a lot more. One of the regulars pointed out that a 10 year old Cayenne with over 100k on it goes for well under $20k. Really. So I started looking. After about 6 months or so, this one popped up locally. Great shape, a few issues, nothing unexpected for the car at the age and mileage. Full records, all work done at the dealer. Paid $16k for it (sticker back in 05 was $93k). Sold the Blazer over C/L to a college kid from Upper Michigan. So now I have 3 Porsches. See pic."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." About 15 years ago a friend comes by with a 928 with just over 180,000 miles. So after some talk we go for a drive. We are going down a road with a limit of 50 mph. Listening to the stereo while he relates to me the problems he is having trying to get cheap parts for the A/C which was inop. After a bit I check the speedometer and I about crap my pants. Its indicating 110 and I thought I might be going 60. Nice cars, quiet, strong engine.

billvon 2,991 #34 February 24, 2017 Only eight. My cars tend to last a long time (for better or for worse.) It's rare for me to get rid of a car with less than 200K miles on it. The Mazda MR6 was one exception; that thing was cursed.
