The PdF's slip too.

Mirage and VSE both use the DJ Stainless friction adapter.

What's the diff between all these? What do DJ and PdF stand for? Any pix to compare?

I will be calling RI on Monday about a few things and i'll ask about this, too, at that time.

thx.
angela.

I'll try to take a good pic of the PdF friction adapter, and post it here.

That'd be cool.

I'm going with Stainless on my Voodoo. I spoke with Sandy and he's eased my mind about the hardware saying that if I had problems, he'd later install the non-stainless friction adapters if i'd like:) Super guy! Very pleased with his attitude over the phone.

Thanks everyone! I'm just figuring my best price dealer and getting my form together:)

If anyone knows any women ~5'5" who own a voodoo, see if you can find out what length risers for me. Otherwise, i'm going to go with the Voodoo standard risers which are 19.5" because my boyfriend has 21" on his voodoo and he has longer arms than me. I'm also going with the 'narrow' leg straps after speaking with Sandy about it.

Thanks again to everyone!!

Just curious... why narrow leg straps?

Dave

I asked if he heard many girls complain of walking with the wide leg straps. He said, some, but if it is a concern, i'd probably be perfectly happy with the narrow (which are normal rather than double-wide).
I am still on the fence about it, actually, I was just thinking about it. I'm sure after 8 jumps, those wide straps would be a blessing. I don't have extremely skinny legs or anything (23.5" with pants on), but I'd hate to feel extremely uncomfortable walking in my rig,.. although, I spend the same or more time under canopy than walking in the rig I think.

hmmm.

How about Aerodyne's Icon? Do they use the PdF hardware because of their French connections?

They had a bulletin or two about slipping leg strap webbing, which I think shows poor design work, for what is one of the newest rig designs around. (I.e.- The problems of slipping hardware were recognized in the industry well before the new Icons were available in the market.)

I use 18's and I am 5'6"...But I am a guy.;)

I can use 21's, but it's not as easy to pull the slider down....So I have to look at it...I'd rather not look and be able to keep my eyes on the people around me.

Well, I currently have 21" risers. I had 22", but it was near impossible to get the slider without turning my canopy. I've ordered my voodoo and it comes with 19.5" risers. If those don't work out, i'll get another set, but Sandy sounded confident that they'd work well. I also opted for the pimpdaddy stainless steel hardware:P.

Thanks all!

Cadmium-plating is soft and easily rubbed off during rough handling.

I find the cadmium plating on my 3-rings is rubbing dark, shiny stains onto my webbing. I'm guessing this is cadmium oxide. It looks bad enough on the yellow half of my webbing that if I got any light colored webbing again, I'd go stainless.

Maybe the right answer is to go with all purple webbing next time.
