I ate so much ice cream while I was on painkillers I didn't realize I was 'burning' my throat until I came off the painkillers. You are better off drinking fluids than eating ice cream. Nataly 38 #8 December 2, 2015 Thanks for the heads-up! Not a massive fan of ice-cream anyway Op went well. Just saw the doc... He said in his 20 years of work he has never taken out such large tonsils... And to think I nearly cancelled because they shrank back down to what I considered an "acceptable" size and thought it just might go away like it always does... (Have had pain/swollen tonsils etc since about June now... And recurring tonsilitis my entire life... Hmmm...) Moral of the story... When you are 6 years old and the doc says "they need to go" he just might be right... Tisket 0 #18 December 3, 2015 I had mine out 6 months ago and have no regrets. The first week of healing was easy, then I decided it'd be a great idea to nibble my way through a hamburger. Don't make my mistake! That burger was so damn good, but so not worth it! LOL It took me about 3 weeks before my energy started to really come back. I slept so much and was just physically drained the whole time, probably from the liquid/soft diet. Hope you heal quickly and fully If you can't convince them, keep them confused. Just a bit tired and it hurts to swallow but it doesn't hurt as bad as it has been hurting for the past few months. But my work colleagues bought me an ice-cream maker - how cool is that??!!! Woo hoo!! They took them out because I have been getting recurring tonsilitis for years and years now. More recently they have been bothering me since June and despite 4 bouts of anti-biotics, nothing helped. The specialist told me there was nothing to do but remove them. Turns out they were really really bad - the worst case he has seen in 20 years! I seem to recall a discussion that we initially thought they didn't do that much and occasionally got infected, so we'd take 'em out at the drop of a hat. Later on we realized that they're actually useful for something (I forget what,) and stopped taking them out so often. Now they only take them out if they have severe enough problems to warrant it.I'm trying to teach myself how to set things on fire with my mind. Hey... is it hot in here?
