Glad I bought my property up in the foothills of the Cascades... up on the plateau. Hydrology matters

Amazon 7 #3 October 30, 2015 JohnMitchell I'm glad we sold our big house on the Puyallup River in Orting. I don't miss flood watches and warnings at ALL! Knowing what I know about hydrology.. and the GEOLOGY on the upper Pull Yall Up and Nisqually Rivers...... I always worried about that big old pile of rock just upstream from Orting a few miles and what would happen if it shook a little bit in the night. I am very glad you guys are no longer there in your old house that is sitting on top of a 50'plus thick consolidated mudflow deposit from the last good shaking that the big pile of rock had that inundated the whole valley all the way to Puget Sound there at Tacoma WA. Funny how I never heard the term "lahar" until after the first year of living there. But you gotta admit, it was great soil for gardening.
Amazon 7 #5 October 30, 2015 JohnMitchell *** I am very glad you guys are no longer there in your old house that is sitting on top of a 50'plus thick consolidated mudflow deposit from the last good shaking that the big pile of rock had that inundated the whole valley all the way to Puget Sound there at Tacoma WA. Funny how I never heard the term "lahar" until after the first year of living there. But you gotta admit, it was great soil for gardening. Funny how that works out huh??? Think that might have affected the developers bottom line had that been required knowledge at the time???? The "people who matter" don't want that kind of information getting round... BUT thre sure were a whole lot of folks living down there on that mudflow... and I was thru there a few weeks ago coming back to town...... and even more construction. The folks up on the bluffs looking out over the valley are going to have an interesting/horrifying show one of these days
