skygypsie 2 #69 October 20, 2015 Good for you I'm closing in on 4 months w/out a puff Never thought I'd ever be a smoker...didn't start till I was 50...who does that ? Coincidently, this was the same time I started skydiving & became a dz staffer I also never thought it would be a problem to quit *Quit tip that worked for me: kept a full pack & new lighter in a drawer for 1st 2 weeks. Every time I felt I HAD to light up, pulled out the pack, realizing if I opened it, I was all done. So would look at it, put it back in the drawer. After 2 weeks, got rid of them
DougH 270 #70 October 20, 2015 stayhighI've been on and off for a couple years now. Props to you!!!! I struggled with being on and off until I switched to vaping. It isn't better than doing nothing, but it is certainly better than the 2000+ chemicals that make up cigarette smoke."The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

BIGUN 1,307 #72 October 20, 2015 skygypsie *Quit tip that worked for me: kept a full pack & new lighter in a drawer for 1st 2 weeks. I quit dipping some years ago. Kept a can of Skoal on the dashboard of the truck. Friends would comment, "Thought you quit?" I did... that's my piss me off can. Whenever I had an urge; I would look at that can and say, "Who's stronger me or you?" Even that I had to ask myself the question - pissed me off. Being pissed off at myself works for me. One beautiful spring day, riding along with the windows open - out the fucking truck it went.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. Amazon 7 #74 October 22, 2015 The_Don You ALL !!!! rock. keep it up!!!! Spring 2018 it will be 40 years since I quit cold turkey.... It was very cold.. I was in a snowcave about 17000 feet up on Denali with 4 other people who ran out during that week in the worst storm I had ever seen. No going out for smokes for any of us... what fun bunch we were too.To this day I can't stand the stench of a smoker near me.
skygypsie 2 #75 October 28, 2015 BIGUN: Funny you say that "Who's stronger, me or you ?" There were a few times I opened that drawer & had a stare down with that unopened pack I'm now curious: "what was the trigger to quit" ? Mine: riding Harley 70 mph & had the annoying 'tickle' (didn't have the smoker's cough yet). I couldn't clear my throat. You know how hard it is to cough into the wind 70mph ? Duh, that would be like attempting to cough in free fall -
