"Did you ever do Bonzai skydiving??":S:D

We did it a bunch in 97 to 99. It's easy. You just gotta believe.

Pssh... Anyone can catch a rig. Catching a narwhal in the air and using it as a canopy, that's difficult.

Ok. We can try that also. On the very day this photo was taken, all the Narwhals said they'd try it.

Thay'll agree to anything if they think they'll get more blow. :|

John relax, it's not that bad. Deep breath.. step away from the ATC screen. Its a website for "entertainment".
If it wasn't for sites like that half the shit on dizzy.com wouldn't get posted and what would we talk about then? :P:)
and when exactly do you yell banzai? like when you bomb out or after you caught the rig and figured out you were going to live?:S:S

Isn't that where you prune a miniature tree while in freefall?

no stupid, it's where you prune your canopy to the least number of cells you reckon you can and then you jump it.

i know a guy who jumped a bonzai canopy that had only a 1/4 of a cell and he landed right in the middle of a can of peas.

"Superstitious" is just a polite way of saying "incredibly fucking stupid".

I say give them a roll of fabric, a pair of scissors, needle and thread and some Dacron line along with some school kids backpack.

Then in free fall they have to McGuyver it all together and use it to save themselves.

And for an encore they could jump from 13.5K go head down, then to a belly fly.

Then when the king air catches them they have to get back in the aircraft.

I used the fact in the original post as my facebook status. The amount of people that thought It was sincere was quite funny.

Even skydivers that know better were commenting on it.

> The plane dives and follows the container. When the guy gets close
>enough he jumps out, grabs the rig and puts it on.

Build a rig 'vehicle' (weighted, stabilized) that contains a main and a reserve. Build a harness that has two points of attachment near your waist. Throw the vehicle out, dive out after it, and stay 1 foot from it all the way to, say, 5000 feet. Clip in at 5000 feet and deploy.

'Bonsai Skydiving Rules' say you have to trim your bush in freefall before you put your rig on.

I've seen similar stunts a couple times on Youtube. I'm not quite that confident in my swoop and dock skills, but I can't imagine it'd be much more than a high-stakes stunt for someone who's had a few thousand jumps worth of practice at that. Add in a cameraman with an extra set of clips in case you fuck up, and it would be almost safeish.

Of course, you'd have to go outside the USA to do it. Troublesome FAA regs.

Plane to plane transfers seem like they'd be much more fun. Plus, you save yourself a pack job!
I'm trying to teach myself how to set things on fire with my mind. Hey... is it hot in here?
