Fucking idiot...

Anytime you throw yourself off a fucking cliff, regardless of what equipment you're going with, you assume the risk that you could fucking die or get maimed.

I hope he loses the suit. Let him try gofundme. I'm sure there are plenty of gullible saps willing to donate.

he already did, and got money from people around here (or basejumper.com) , and then decides to sue...

If the reports are true of 9 months flying, and 30 hours flying time, he is not a novice.

How come the lawyers on here aren't chiming in? Oh. They are lawyers. For 30-40% I'll bet they'd take up the cause.
I hold it true, whate'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.

Hopefully it's a lost cause, and they already know it. ;)

Depression is a very common result after a life changing injury like that. I've had friends who have been hurt worse, but decided they still wanted to enjoy their lives. I admire that kind of determination and spirit.

Hey... I know a guy like that;)... he did not let his severe injury and aftermath stop him and he is a young man that never ceases to amaze.... I am better for knowing him.

Hi John,

What most people do not realize is that the vast majority of people who approach an attorney about launching a lawsuit are turned down. And that is because it is determined to be: 'a lost cause.'

Australia has been in a fairly long string of over protective legislation in recent year. I wouldn't be surprised if this guy gets a sympathetic hear from courts.

If there was a 'entitled asshole support pension' I'm sure he'd qualify for that.

Grr.

If you need a sign to tell you what level you're at, you're not at a level you should be self-supervising. Eejit.

According to the Aus PG association, he shouldn't have been self supervising. So I guess he has to explain why he would have followed one recommendation when he wasn't following others...

I guess it's some consolation that other sports (like paragliding) have their Scott Lutz's too.

Hey, Kim Gibbs found a law firm that would sue for such idiocy as:
- Trespassing (by aircraft flying overhead).
- Noise ordinance violation (of an ordinance that specifically exempts aviation).
- Mental and physical injury (by plaintiffs who refused to be examined by a doctor).

So I think it is just a matter of searching until you find the right shyster.

As we all know, she does not fit the 'norm' for anything.

:P

PS) I would bet if she had not found a law firm, she would have filed on her own. Maybe about now those folks at her law firm are thinking they should have let her do that.

OK, it looks like there are situations where you may have trouble finding a lawyer:

A Winnipeg man accused of mailing letter-bombs to his ex-wife and two law firms is looking outside of Manitoba for a lawyer to take his case.

Disagree. I have about the same hours, in a shorter timeframe (approx 2 months), and have done a few cross country flights up to about 25km - I'm still a novice, PARTICULARLY with regards to interpreting meteorology and terrain conditions. 30 hrs over 9 months is pretty low time I reckon.
