WatchYourStep 0 #1 May 16, 2015 My wife and I purchased our first house. It has a nice backyard but it has never really been maintained. Need to replace the mulch, maybe put in a few different plants etc. The only problem is I have no experience on how or when it's smart to do that type of stuff. Can anyone suggest a book or website they use? Or do I just find a local greenhouse and ask them for advice and just buy it from them? Thanks guys! You can google "native plants" with your city and state and get resources. They're easiest because they require less babying, they're more disease and pest resistant. And get slow-growing ones so you don't have to trim them as often. And remember -- if something doesn't work too well, it's just an opportunity to try something different.
