Samurai136 0 #26 October 6, 2004 I'm not saying there is a direct cause. Just use your best judgement making stows. Like any line stow just don't make the bites so big that they can loop around the next stow. I'm a pretty detail oriented packer and managed to pack a bag lock w/ in-board stows. Make a stow just a little too long, and the bag placement in the container hides all the stows... can't really see if you've actually just packed a bag lock unless you pull the bag out and check... etc, etc. Follow this line of thought, switched back to the standard stow, still don't have problems with line twists. Good, consistent packing techniques have more to do w/ line-twist prevention than anything. If in-board stows help you do that, more power to ya! Deuce 1 #27 October 7, 2004 I've got that mod on both my rigs. It's the bomb. Check them out this weekend if the weather gets us up in the air. And Shannon? If you end up getting as hooked on Birdman flight as I think you're gonna, get the other birdman mods as well. Wings rocks. On second thought, here's pictures of one of mine. diablopilot 2 #30 October 7, 2004 What's what I was thinking. Don't like it. Makes replacing the P/C difficult. There's tradeoffs for everything. You are probably lots more hands-on about your gear than me. When my pilot chutes wear out, I'll order a new one through my rigger and have him replace it during a repack and inspection.
Girlfalldown 0 #32 October 7, 2004 Ok that makes a lot of sense. Thanks Deuce! -------------- (Do not, I repeat DO NOT, take my posts seriously.)
mjosparky 4 #33 October 8, 2004 QuoteOk that makes a lot of sense. Thanks Deuce! There is nothing new in the design of this bag. It is the same design used by Para-Inovators in the late 70's and early 80's. By moving the line stows in towards the center line of the bag you are creating less bag "whip" during deployment. The triangle of material extending away from the bag works like a sail and dampens out the tendency for the the bag to rotate. It doesn't work every time, but then what does.
