He also made a great landing, couldn't have been much softer! This one was owned by Ed Shipley, don't know who has it now. Once offered to trade my wife for a ride in that airplane….the pilot (I think it was Ed) paused a moment then said "Is she free and clear? No liens?" :)SmugMug
kallend 2,106 #5 October 26, 2014 piisfish Don't know which plane that is, but Big Beautiful Doll was totalled 3 years ago in Duxford I don't think any of the REAL (John D. Landers) BBDs was ever restored. Over the years I've seen several P51Ds painted as BBDs. The one that crashed at Duxford was built in 1951.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

ryoder 1,590 #7 October 26, 2014 akjmpplt *** The one that crashed at Duxford was built in 1951. Mustang production stopped in 1945. Cavalier was rebuilding modified Mustangs beginning in 1958, some with new SN's: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cavalier_Mustang"There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones.
