Altimeters that track jump info?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I'm curious to what everyone has to say about the altimeters that track jump info. I currently am using a standard Alti2 wrist mount but would like to upgrade to something that would give me additional data about my jumps.

If you have one, what model is it and what do you like about it? What do you dislike? and...last but not least, where do you wear it and why?

Thanks!

The pro-track is usually worn in a helmet. They do not display altitudes, they do beep at certain altitudes, though...so if you hold your wrist really close to your ear...:P

Ok, seriously, the only altimeter that's a digital log book and a visual altimeter is the Neptune. I've been jumping with a Neptune for a while now and I'm very happy. I had the LCD crack, but the company replaced it for free and really took care of me.B|

Speak for yourself. I can hear my wrist-mounted Neptune on some of my BirdMan jumps.B|

But, I agree on the Neptune and the service from Alti-2. I've also been happy with my ProTrack which stays in my helmet.

I'd suggest the combination of a Neptune and a pro-track

(Neptune doesn't record max and minimum speed, pro-track does)

the neptune is absolutely awesome, I have mine on my wrist, but had it on my helmet for about 20 jumps. great both ways.

Neptune offers digital read out, backlighting for night jumps (turns backlight off when not in use) climb rates in the plane, upgradeable software, now 3 beeps in freefall and three beeps under canopy with new software, automatically turns on when you start climbing, automatically switches to free fall and canoy modes, etc. automatically off after like 10-20 mins of non-use, and service from alti-2 is EXCELLENT. had a button break off, told my dealer, sent mine in, sent me a new one...yeah, awesome.

then I wear a skytronic on my helmet as something just for beeps

though the Pro-Track is not a visual altimeter,it does log your last ten jumps. The Pro-Dytter provides no logging functionality.

Er to clarify a bit more....it logs more then just the last 10 jumps...it keeps more information on the last 10, but will actually track the date, exit alti, deploy alti, min max and average speed, FF sec's for the last 200 jumps....;)

If all you want a protrack for is to record max and min speed, you might consider a cheaper audible and the $50 paralog software to go with your neptune. I understand why someone might buy a second audible, but why spend the extra money on a protrack for the second one?

brilliant man!! brilliant!

digital readouts on the wrist rule all...exceppt...I've noticed I can't read the #'s whilemy canopy is opening..hmmmm

are there any "cheap" audibles out there that have 3 +beeps out there (besidesthe skytronic) that are as easy to change as the neptune? (skytronic is rather a pain to switch altitude beeps)
