grue 1 #1 August 13, 2014 Never move internationally, this shit is a logistical nightmare I'm going home to the US sometime before the end of the year, and have started the job hunting now since I can leave in a few weeks for the right job. But scheduling phone and/or video conf interviews with the west coast of the US from australian eastern time leaves me about a hour-long window before I go to work, otherwise they're going to see Early Morning Grue, a terrifying visage at best cavete terrae. TriGirl 318 #2 August 14, 2014 Yes, moving internationally does suck. Lucky for me, when I do it, 1) I already have a job, and 2) my employer takes care of the logistics. Seriously -- I am in awe of people like you and N@ who decide to work/live in other countries, and just go for it. Intimidates the crap out of me! FWIW, I'll offer a secret to conducting those "early morning" video chats. "Forget" to turn on your video connection and begin the meeting with audio only. Once you've finished your coffee or otherwise freshened up, connect video and be pleasantly surprised that you got it to work. NWFlyer 2 #3 August 14, 2014 Suck it up, cupcake, you may have to get up earlier than you like to make this work. And you've got one big advantage that a lot of job seekers looking to move to the U.S. don't have, which is that you don't have to worry about visas/sponsorship. (But yes, job seeking when you're not actually there is an extra challenge, even within the same country)."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
