That was the most impressive thing I've ever seen done with a helicopter.

The anticipation of drop location is surreal. He doesn't bother to be vertical above the target, just incorporates the swing into one smooth move.

Awful light load on the hook. This is the ultimate sling load, but it would be interesting in a high wind situation.

When I checked out in the BO-105, the training staff was still showing the factory videos like this one and one with the loops and rollovers. They later quit showing this kind of stuff because they were afraid some of the pilots would try it. Some did. I understand one of the factory pilots finally ran out of luck.
The B0-105 was built like a brick shithouse. Dancing among thunderstorms in the Gulf of Mexico, you just tightened the shoulder harness because you knew it would not fall apart. With the clamshell doors removed you could stuff anything in the back and allow it to stick out (to a limit). It would carry cargo that couldn't be put on a Bell 212 or 412.
Offshore you could start this aircraft in high winds when others remained tied to the deck.
Even with bird strikes and engine failures this wonderful helicopter always got me home.

Some of my current and his former coworkers believe that his death was suicide by helicopter. He had a ton of stuff from his personal life piling up and was doing a demo that he had done multiple times. Just prior to the last flight he had made a bunch of comments to that effect, but everyone blew them off as jokes.

I am trying to find a video from New Zealand I think where a heli is pretending to be Snoopy and playing with a ball and came across this. You would voluntarily ride along on a ride like that? That is nuts. That made the rides Rod took us on look safe. Any help with that other video would be appreciated.

That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
