Amazon 7 #51 April 9, 2014 I just figured it would be cheaper in the long run to just buy a nice well appointed pilothouse that I could putt around from place to place in that part of the world in good weather months rather than dealing with trying to buy a place that would be more expensive in paperwork and taxes. Most of my family lines came here during the English Civil War or before so tracking them down has been a wee bit difficult. Even the DNA Testing has been a pain since I coume out with hundreds of 4th cousins with an MRCA of 6 to 7 generations in MD or VA. Even the newbies in NC are 6th gen. The only one for sure... is the Gregson of Lancashire with my 2nd great grandfather who got here just yesterday it seems... in 1852.
rickjump1 0 #52 April 10, 2014 LuckyMcSwervy You get to close up your house, lawn gets cut and watered, mail forwarded, nothing could go wrong at home so there's no excuse to keep you there all summer. You've been given May-September off from your job (paid vacation), so you can't use work as an excuse. All you have to do is pick a town and find a great place to live like a local for a while. Where are you going?? Coogee Bay Hotel NSW Au. It's been around for 130+ years, and I just stumbled upon it while on vacation (R+R) from Vietnam several years ago. I liked the beer, the people, and the beach. If I remember right, their summers are our winters. No matter, I would definitely like to go back and retrace a couple of places I went to when I took a leave "down under" after another tour.Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts. grue 1 #53 April 10, 2014 Do we get to ignore realistic obstructions to this plan and keep it as an exercise in fantasy? If so, I'd probably go to northern california and chill in the bay area. Close enough to DZs and a tunnel, while also having plenty else to do (like job hunt). If I have to actually stay within my means, I'd, uh… stay home I guess and summer on the internet :Pcavete terrae.
