baronn 111 #1 February 10, 2014 John Force at 64 yrs young, just set a new National speed record in BOTH low ET AND Top Speed for Funny Car. 3.965 ET and better than 324 MPH. Unreal! Huge Grats for a great job!
airtwardo 7 #2 February 10, 2014 I remember when the 5 second mark was broken - they said THAT'S as fast as you can go in 1320 feet... ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
baronn 111 #3 February 10, 2014 The power has come up a bit but, the big breakthrough has been in the driveline. Staged clutches and air shifters are what's makin this possible. John Force set the low ET at 3.966 in Pomona, then came back and knocked .001 off that. Oh and he won the opening race of the season. And lets not forget his 2 daughters that also race. On a sad note, RIP to Don Garlits Amazing wife Pat. The 1st Lady if drag racing for many years.
Arvoitus 1 #4 February 10, 2014 To me thats the success of the engineers/technicians who built the car, not the guy who sat inside it and pressed the Go-button. Unless that guy took part in building the car.Your rights end where my feelings begin.
jonstark 8 #5 February 10, 2014 I took my 12 yr old son to the Gator Nationals last year. I hadn't seen drag racing in 30 years. HOLY SHIT!!! That stuff is mind blowing! What a blast. WooHoo! Go man go! jon
DiverMike 5 #6 February 10, 2014 Quotethats the success of the engineers/technicians who built the car, not the guy who sat inside it and pressed the Go-button. It is a little like the football being proud it was passed and caught for a touchdown. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board. Fullmoon 0 #7 February 10, 2014 That is so cool, I'm so glad it was his team. He has the most amazing smile, even when he does not win. He always looks happy and has a great attitude. For those interested, Doug Foley has a great drag racing class that travels mostly on the east coast of the US. It's fun. -Lisa
turtlespeed 226 #8 February 11, 2014 I opened this thread thinking its YET ONE MORE thread about Twardo. I mean - WTF (Wow That's Fabulous) I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
D22369 0 #9 February 15, 2014 hats off to them as well, but credit where credit is due - not everyone can handle those animals, if you have ever seen a driver lose traction and pedal it like crazy to keep the car off the wall and intact at over 200 then you know some people do have crazy mad skillz but yeah, without those mad scientists poking and tweaking - they would be driving a touch slower I met John Force at seattle international raceway in Kent Wa. years ago, what an amazing driver and one hell of a nice guy - at that time I was running the 9.90 index on my Suzuki - he called us bike racers crazy if you can imagine compared to him - sloowww motion Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

baronn 111 #11 February 22, 2014 They all have access to the same driveline and tech. The guy behind the wheel decides when to press the go button after the light turns green. The race is often won and list then...
