My cat picked this day to kick off and go to ground. :(

I found him at the bottom of the back steps.

He almost made it to his 18th birthday. Missed it by only a few days. 20 pounds of iconic siamese; lovable, loyal and loud when displeased.

The hardest part was telling my (grown) kids. My daughter was in tears, and my son texted me a crying emoticon, which is pretty darned demonstrative for him.

We buried him next to the fish pond, which was one of his favorite hang outs. :)
I will miss him.

lisa-I'm so sorry to hear about your pet cat. But hey, you had him for 18 years, that's a rarity, as I'm sure your very aware. I know your pain, I lost my Australian Shepard "Bear" some years ago. I'm not kidding you when I say I cried like a 2 year old when he passed. He was 19 years old when he went to the "Big Play Ground In The Sky!" I'm certain there's other dogs up in doggie heaven that love to play foot ball as much as he loved to play it with my 2 sons. That dog practically raised my 2 sons.

I hope and I know you'll find peace. You take care, be safe! :)
Best-
Richard

Thanks to those who have responded, so far. :)
I think my daughter is the one who is really hurting. Blue was her cat (and she his person), growing up. He hasn't lived with her since she went to college, but, every time she visited home they were inseparable.

I was listening to a Buddhist lecture a while back on the nature of love. I'm not a Buddhist, but appreciate their perspective on things, which they seem to think about quite deeply. The gist of one of the things he said was "Just because they're gone doesn't mean you have to stop loving them." For nearly 18 years, you must have had some great moments together. For that, he will always have a place in your heart.

All my past pets except one visit me in my dreams from time to time. When I wake up, I'm always happy to have seen them again.
I'm trying to teach myself how to set things on fire with my mind. Hey... is it hot in here?

Warm sympathies, sweetie. Some pets might as well be family. Sounds like this one was. :(

I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet..

But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

:(:(:(

I'm certain your cat had 18 very good years of love given/received. Sorry for your loss :(

It's always hard to lose a little one that has become such an integral part of your life. The now emptiness is the reflection of the joy and innocence he filled your life with.

May the happy :) times shared always make you smile and lead you through your loss.

What's up with losing Siamese this weekend? My friends here just had to let theirs go on Friday. He was only 12. :(

When you have a breed that is known for VERY long lives (like, 20-22 years), it's much tougher to think that the 18 (or 12 in my friend's case) years was too short. Then again, even when they exceed our expectations, we feel it's too short.

Needless to say, I spent the weekend cuddling my own 9-yr-old Siamese. He's spend his whole life in relative luxury -- I know he has no idea how good he has it! And I hope he never has to find out. But did he appreciate the extra attention? Hell no! :D He begged for more.

Best wishes to you, sweetie. I know it's tough.
