rob_v 0 #1 November 2, 2004 I am currently visiting the UK. The reserve repack cycle here is 180 days. My reserve was packed last in the US on June 9th. 146 days ago. I'm past the 120 US days, but I'm within the 180 UK days. Who thinks my reserve is still in date for me to make a jump here? I called the DZ (Skydive Hinton) and the rigger there (Pat) told me that because it was packed in the US, they need to follow the 120 day rule. So she says I'm out of date. I know that if I got it repacked here, and went back to the US they wouldn't let me go 180 days. Does anyone know what the official rules say? Is there any other UK DZs in the area (I'm just West of London) that will let me jump without having to get my rig repacked here?
Dazzle 0 #2 November 2, 2004 Sorry you're out of luck From the BPA ops manual, section 6 http://www.bpa.org.uk/opman.htm Quote8.5. Reserve parachutes that have been packed in a foreign country, in a manner acceptable to the parachuting organisation of that country, may be jumped at a BPA Club for up to 180 days from the date of that packing. This is provided that the parachuting organisation of that foreign country allows 180 days validity for a reserve repack; otherwise the foreign countrys lesser time will apply. All UK DZs have to belong to the BPA and run in accordance to the ops manual. D
jjiimmyyt 0 #3 November 2, 2004 I've looked into this before and it seems that most places you go if you bring kit from your own country(where it had its last repack) their repack rules apply, not the country you want to jump in.
