LuckyMcSwervy 0 #40 November 23, 2013 promise5 Having dinner with family and enjoying the day!!! Hopefully it will be a quiet and safe holiday then I won't have to work. Sounds nice but you said the Q word!! Something I learned long, long ago was to never say the Q word you need it to be Q! I'm the daughter, sister, and xW of police officers all in the same town, and also was a deputy court administrator back in the day (same town). You never say the Q word when planning on meet ups, sneaking home for dinner breaks, meeting up for lunch, stopping in to family parties/BBQs, planning vacations or time off (when xH was in the detective bureau - couldn't leave a hot case), going out shopping (shopping was more for me when I was on call for warrants, jail commitments, etc.). I hope you have a NICEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE day!! Always be kinder than you feel.
TriGirl 319 #41 November 23, 2013 Unfortunately for me right now, EVERY day is "Turkey" day (I live in Ankara, Turkey). However, I've already started the dishes for my sort-of-famous "Tequila Dinner" that I'll be serving at the Marine House at the embassy on Wednesday. I happen to know of another skydiver who just got to Turkey this week for a long vacation. He'll get to Ankara early next week, in time for said Tequila Dinner, followed by a road trip along Turkey's southwest coast for some nice historical sightseeing and possibly some SCUBA diving. amstalder 0 #43 November 24, 2013 theonlyski I apparently have 3 use or lose vacation days that I have to burn by Dec 3. 9 day weekend starts today. Some combo of cleaning and organizing my house, flying and who knows what else. You should fly to Texas ETA: Thanksgiving is also my favorite. We were going to host both families (eeks, but yay), and then celebrate kiddo's first birthday (it's on Friday!), but then this move got pushed up six months, so now we're in Texas praying we find a house before then, but knowing we won't be moved in... So I think we're probably going to the dropzone. If we can't be with family, I think the dz is a pretty good second choice.

grue 1 #45 November 24, 2013 My girlfriend and I will be going to my father's house and the three of us (all Americans) will be introducing my stepmother to the wonder of Thanksgiving dinner. I'll be working during the day though as it's not a holiday here, or even noticed by anyone except expats. Friday I'll work. Saturday and Sunday I'll be jumping at the coastal DZ that is run by the same DZO as my home DZ, we're bringing the Caravan down there and allowing a small contingent of fun jumpers instead of just tandems cavete terrae. Yes, every Black Friday, it just amazes me how many people apparently don't have computers to connect to the Internet, so they must clog the highways and stores to fight over goods."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones.
