[Reply]I have yet to read of soccer causing Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, but we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that American football causes it.

I have. Something about using the head with wet soccer balls. That had to be ten years ago where there were studies showing how many soccer players are punchy by age 50.

Soccer also turns its players into massive pussies.

Ugh! Some googling turned up this: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-204_162-57588711/

I wouldn't have expected the ball would have enough mass to impart damaging acceleration to the head.

I'm a Packer fan that also cheered for Favre :P
I think he got a bad deal when he left the Packers.

How did he get a "Bad Deal"?

He retired. Said he'd had enough and couldn't do it any more.
He'd been hinting that for a few years, so no one was really surprised.
But, at the same time that he'd been talking about the possibility of retiring, each year he'd come back ready to go.
So a lot of people, including the Packers leadership, wasn't entirely sure he was really going to retire.

So in spring, right before the draft and free agency, the Packers approached Favre and asked if he was going to come back or stay retired. There were choices that had to be made, and those choices depended very heavily on whether or not Favre was going to be there. At that point, the Packers would have been happy to have him come back. They told him this.
He said he was going to stay retired.

So after draft picks were made, after free agency acquisitions were made, after the Packers had planned out the "Post-Favre" era, then he decides to come back.

And the Packers told him that they had moved on.

He was given ample opportunity to come back. He just waited until it was too late to decide.
And then got all hurt and upset when they wouldn't bend over backwards for him.
The Greta Van Sustren interview showed him for what he really was.

I fully understand that football is a business, and that loyalty between teams and players is almost nonexistent. Favre seemed to forget this completely and seemed to think the team was all about him.

Which cost him the respect of a lot of Packer fans. He still had a lot of Favre fans, which is fine. He was a tremendous player.
But he put himself too far ahead of the team and it cost him.

Packer Fans will too, if they get away with holding.:D

Hey Turtle... I don't think you can insult Packer Fans. They love a good Packer joke better than anyone. But Vikings fans are really thinned skinned. Hell, last year they were seen throwing Grenades across the St. Croix river at Packer fans after a bad Packer beatdown.

Of course, Packer fans were pulling the pins and throwing them back. :P

I didn't see that interview but the couple articles I read told a little bit different story. It was more along the lines that Thompson and McCarthy were not open at all to Favre returning and basically told him they didn't think he had it anymore and should retire. I think there was some nastiness and yes on both sides. I'll add I wasn't a fan of those two when they let White go before that.

I was goalie for my university's team and had an opposing player think that charging me when I was about to deliver a drop kick (not a punt, which is different) to clear the ball would throw me off and make me shank it. He took it to the side of the head when he turned his face away from it, and was knocked clean out and from what I'm told had a pretty solid concussion.

My Pops played for the Lions and the Chargers back in the 70's....I was raised in Illinois surrounded by Bears fans, lived in STL for a while surrounded by Rams fans...just moved to Denver where it is clearly Broncos country.....I take after my old man and just enjoy watching the sport more than getting involved in one team....but, given my surroundings, I've found myself jumping on the Broncos bandwagon....just fun to watch and root for

Tonight I'm a Broncos fan....that was a great game!!!;)

Sports are funny ... put me in front of a TV where I don't care about the result and I will be tuning out faster than a child with ADD. But put me in front of a TV where I care about the result and I am glued to every play as if it could influence who wins and loses the game. Last night's football game was like that for me. I didn't miss a play. It was the first time this season I got to see this "Best in the NFL" Kansas City Chiefs defense go up against the "Best in the NFL" Broncos offense and there is no doubt the Chiefs are good. This was an important game for the Broncos to win. But the pressure is still on for the Broncos. They have two very tough road games to play in the next couple of weeks (@New England and @Arrowhead with a re-match against the Chiefs).

^ this right here. I really enjoy watching the game played at the highest levels, no matter what teams are playing.

I'm a Soutern Atheist...meaning I don't watch football. College ball is more important than religion in the South. For some reason, we don't support pro teams.

I just don't care to watch someone else have fun. If you want to go out and play a game, count me in. Watching someone else...not so much. I'm the same way about porn. B|

I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet..

But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

RMURRAY

saskatchewan rough riders !

I don't like the Riders :P but I respect them and their fans. ;)

They are without doubt the most hardcore football fans in Canada. How many people would drive 5+ hours to attend a game in arctic temperatures in late November. Not many, but Rider fans do it all the time. Yeah I hate Rider Nation, but they sure are passionate for their team. You got to wonder what the actual players think of these crazy fans, most of whom are 'mericuns, not 'nucks.

Games are very interactive, at least for me they are. I get exercise from cheering and also doing the that was an amazing play dance it's close to the victory dance just a little less intense. I help the ref's with calls especially ones they either missed or got wrong. Add to that giving advice to the coach and players and it becomes a little intense at times.

:P:P:P
