Making a mistake...

Recommended Posts

How do you react when you realise you've made a mistake? A big one - you've made a total ass of yourself...

Hypothetical... Nothing juicy to tell I'm afraid. Well, nothing recent that I can think of!! :P

Personally, the thing I hate most about being wrong is that I stuck my neck out in the first place (when I should have checked/realised/thought-before-I-spoke, et cetera). It's not the shame of being wrong - it's the shameful way I asserted I was soooooo certain I was right... :D:$ But I'm not one of those people who thinks they are always right... I speak/react FAR too quickly to be one of those!!! :D

Own up to it, apologize if you've wronged someone else, do what you need to do to make the situation right, and figure out how to prevent it from happening again if you can.

That, and try to find a way to laugh about it as well. I'm human, making mistakes comes with the territory. Making big mistakes just means that I took a bigger risk, which I don't really see as being too much of a problem.

Lol I hate that!!! But I will admit when confronted with overwhelming evidence that I was wrong I usually just say. " See I told you I was right you just misunderstood everything I was saying." Or something like that. :P

No matter how slowly you say oranges it never sounds like gullible.
Believe me I tried.

All the arguments i have seen over certain jumps going not as planned have been heated and blown way out of proportion. I find its best to wait at least an hour before confronting or entering a conversation about a jump if possible. Even simple conversations can go into weird places when adrenaline is involved.

Sounds like you jump with the wrong people if it ever comes to this.

What I left out was the part where I also in my mind endlessly second-guess myself later :S:D. But I try not to show it B|

Laugh really hard, and then look at the invisible person behind you and say, yes, you can burn the place down now.

Bwaahahahahaha

OK, probably not the best idea . . .

Hi Nataly,

I have always felt that if you do not make a mistake now and then, you are not doing anything.

As usual, I agree with NWFlyer and Wendy (no big surprise there!! :D:P)

Also like this above... Nobody is right all the time, but if you try to be the best approach is probably to do nothing!!

Yeah... I'm quick to own up to my mistakes/errors. In fact, I've had to learn NOT to always accept responsibility too quickly because sometimes it takes time to properly digest/understand exactly what happened and if you immediately step up and take all the blame, some people are all too happy to deny responsibility when it turns out they were partly or indeed entirely at fault.
