flyingferret 0 #26 January 25, 2002 And here I was thinking....hmmm, I wonder if I could do this on a sabre. I guess not, plus mine is a tuna boat and I would not do that shit below 5K either. Pretty neat to see though.Malachi
Alexg3265 0 #27 April 23, 2013 I tried this last weekend... I fly a sabre 170 loaded at 1.4 to 1. I personally enjoy the canopy flight more than free fall so naturally I wanted to play with it... I opened at 10 and tried some from full flight... Decent results but a little spooky... Started diving at the inverted point... I'd say it was roughly a 45 degree angle between down and the horizon coming out of it... I had less luck with risers than with toggles... At one point about 5000 ft I pulled a front riser 180 dive, got on both toggles light and tried to really kick it and I got the flattest roll yet, however, as some of the weight came off the lines as I swung back under, my canopy snapped around 4 or 5 times leaving me in a line twisted canopy now in a diving turn. This is why you do not do this low... Honestly it scared the hell out of me to see slack lines floating as you see your shadow on your canopy. I kicked out of the twists by 3500' but just like that I ate up 1500' real quick... So doing this in a sabre..... With High loading and appropriate comfort level under canopy, it can be done, but you will have far more ease with something highly elliptical.I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. My dad wouldn't let me use the ladder to try the roof...
