You live in Kingwood? Do you work for Continental Airlines or does a direct family member?

You mean United?? LOL

I have several friends who were flying for Expressjet or Continental prior to the merger. Over the years of keeping in touch with them I noticed that everyone's address eventually became somewhere in Kingwood. When my old flight instructor got picked up the running joke was that in between basic indoctrination training and simulator training that a real estate agent specializing in Kingwood had a day to make presentations to the pilot group ;)

Your better 1/2 spends 1/2 her time in the left seat; who's seat does she spend the other 1/2... ;)

Dammit! I was in the process of opening Twardo's attachment when I read this and thought for sure I was gonna see a naked pic of a porn star with my work-mate behind me.

Fucker!

I awoke to a thunderclap so loud it had me yelling as I woke up -- don't know if I've ever done that before.

And this morning my Uverse router was deader'n a doornail. After 30 minutes of wrangling with ATT (they suck just about as bad as Comcast) -- yes, I've tried other plugs. yes, it's plugged in. no, there really aren't any lights on. No, the phone doesn't work either. etc. etc. etc, they're sending me a new box which should get here in the next couple of days, and which I'm privileged to install myself.

They had to confirm my identity. how? Why, by calling the phone that runs through my dead uverse box! Then they called my cell phone back -- the same one whose number was displaying on their screen.

dipshits. Maybe I'll go back to a tin can with a string, and just use an antenna for the TV, and the library for internet. not :P

I was on the 'puter last night when lighting nailed a tree just outside the window...I immediately pulled all the power & cable connects.

Lost my hard drive a couple months back during one of these, not taking any chances again! ;)

Yeah, well I was in bed, didn't even think about it. I do have a good surge protector on the equipment at least (and the rest of it all works).

All the GFCIs in the house were tripped, along with one circuit breaker. But the stove (which says PF for any glitch at all -- at least once a month) was shining on brightly...

Did ya all notice that that picture isn't of a weather map?

It's actually a pet scan overlay of the poster!!!

The very red areas, indicating unusuall brain activity, are in the major sensory areas that have been corrolated with self abuse and skydiving, also the brain area associated with puppy dogs and easter bunnies is lit up!

There are also some other unusuall activity patterns indicated perhaps there is some doctor out there that can help interpeert these phenomenon? What is unusuall is the lack of activity in the frontal lobe, I have no idea what that means???

I threw it out just a couple days ago...but MY surge protector at that time, pretty much exploded off the wall when we got hit.

I now have the best one Radio Shack has...FWTW.

But I'm still gun-shy when the clouds get 'sparky'.

I guess we're fairly new to the whole electricity thing up here...everybodys power-box trips when it rains, light bulbs last 1/3 the time as anywhere else I've lived...when the last him-a-cane went through, we were over a week behind the rest of Harris Co. getting the power back on. :|

When I lived in IL, a co-worker had lightning strike the big tree in his yard. It followed the trunk down to the roots, then jumped to the underground power cables into the house, then fried *every* electrical appliance connected to the wiring.:o:S

The insurance company did cover replacing everything.

Last year I had a lightning bolt hit the power transformer on the pole that supplies my house. Thunder was instantaneous. Made me jump pretty good. Had no power for 7 hours before the power company finally came out to fix it. There were broken pieces of heavy ceramic parts on the ground around the pole.

Thankfully, most of my electronics are plugged in surge protectors so I haven't had any issues.

Another lightning strike did fry the cable connection on the side of my house but didn't go into the house. Hmm... Maybe the ground wire had something to do with that. It's right there outside the house under the power meter.

Hey ya old fart. Buy an external USB drive (even better if you find one that will run off of USB power) and back your stuff up to it once a week or so. When it's not actively backing up, UNPLUG IT and put it in a safe place.

No need to worry about lightning taking it out unless your house is on fire, but then ya got bigger prollems.

Years back I was standing in the kitchen looking outside on the deck when lightning hit the gas grill 10 feet away! :o

It put the temp gauge through the outside wall of the garage & split the fuel tank wide open...fortunately it didn't explode.

THAT will git the ticker clickin' & put pep in yer step!
