BillyVance 34 #1 March 27, 2013 I'm not at work today but one thing I have noticed from time to time, is when I leave my work computer long enough, the computer goes into hibernation mode, and then shuts itself off completely. I have tried to no avail, at finding the control to change the option to keep it in hibernation. Does anybody know if there is one, and if yes, where the hell is it? It sucks when I do a bunch of work on AutoCad, save the work and then leave for lunch with AutoCad and the drawing still open, and then come back to find the computer completely off. Then when I turn it back on, and re-open AutoCad, I find the drawing file has reverted back to what it was that morning when I first opened it and started work. So all the work I "quick-saved" before lunch is gone. I have learned to save and quit AutoCad as well as any other apps before I leave the computer, but every now and then I forget to."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
sfzombie 3 #2 March 27, 2013 http://www.computerperformance.co.uk/win8/windows8-sleep-mode.htm http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-enable-windows-8-hibernate-option/ i don't have much experience with windows 8, i would look at the 2d link first. if you hibernate before leaving, you shouldn't have any problems with losing any info when you get back.http://kitswv.com
theonlyski 8 #3 March 27, 2013 Follow the links above, that should take care of it. You might also look for the 'high performance' power setting."I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
SkyCoi 0 #4 March 27, 2013 I was going to suggest Power Settings as well. Or use Windows 7 instead .... I know that it comes OEM these days, but unless you have a touch-enabled screen I don't much see the point. W7 is the most stable OS to date.
BillyVance 34 #5 March 27, 2013 Thanks guys.... I will get into it when I get back to work tomorrow. Apparently the office manager has the same issue. theonlyski 8 #6 March 27, 2013 Wouldn't surprise me. Power conservation settings usually start at the factory or on install."I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

pandamonium 0 #8 March 28, 2013 You might look at the "S" settings in the BIOS of the computer. I've had issues with that when I had hibernation/wake-up issues on PC's in the past. The article is for Windows 7, but it should be relevant. http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/30124-bios-settings-s1-s3-hybrid-sleep.htmlI hate landing in planes.
