BillyVance 34 #26 February 28, 2013 Remembering what an old friend told me about his wife trying to make him quit skydiving by choosing the sport or her. He told her "I'm gonna miss ya". She backed off. They're still married AFAIK, though he eventually retired from the sport due to various physical ailments. Amazon 7 #27 February 28, 2013 Quote You guys are funny. To the OP's question, I've told my sweetie that if she ever made me quit jumping I'd be getting a motorcycle and start drag racing again. Pick the poison. I gave up on the DonorCycles a loooooong time ago... 3 bikes totaled.. I figured I was running out of cat lives.

Fearjoburg 0 #38 February 28, 2013 QuoteJust had this conversation with a friend of mine and wanted to know what others thought. If you had been involved in a skydiving accident and your SO asked you to give up the sport because of it would you? My thoughts were I couldn't ask them to give up something they love. Yes I would. But luckily my wife is very supportive.

Nataly 38 #42 February 28, 2013 QuoteJust had this conversation with a friend of mine and wanted to know what others thought. If you had been involved in a skydiving accident and your SO asked you to give up the sport because of it would you? My thoughts were I couldn't ask them to give up something they love. Totally depends... If your SO is concerned for your well-being, you should definitely discuss it. Both parties probably have valid points, and if you care about each-other you will be honest about whose arguments are most relevant. In some cases (ie: when you have young kids; when you are retardedly accident-prone; when your finances are in a dire state), it can be wise to at least take a break from the sport... In some cases, you should come to some kind of compromise, or better explain the (calculated) risks involved. Whatever the circumstances, the determining factor is really whether you or your SO is being selfish toward the other... If one of you *is* being selfish, the problem isn't the skydiving..."There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss
