NoCoSkyDiver 0 #6 January 20, 2013 I am an orthopaedic surgeon with a subspecialty in hand. I have sewn many tendons back together. In general, it takes 6 weeks for tendons to heal together. However, it can be up to 3 months for full unrestricted use depending on the situation. I am not your surgeon, and not offering advice, but general information. Your surgeon should tell you at the follow-up appt.
Zep 0 #7 January 20, 2013 Thanks, my follow up is next tuesday, It was fun watching the surgeon trying to rejoin the tendon from my big toe, as you can imagine tendon was missing around half an inch, so the first few attempts to sow it back togeather the stitches just pulled out or broke so he had to cut it back even further and used a thicker thread. It's a pain in the butt now having to inject Clexane for the next ten days. but that's what you get for not paying attention whist cutting wood. JohnMitchell 16 #8 January 20, 2013 Damn, sorry about your chainsaw accident. Do you still have all your toes? An in-law of mine is recovering from finger reattachment surgery after a table saw accident two weeks ago. Best wishes to you both for a speedy recovery. Kevlar chaps & steel toed boots & bullet-proof safety glasses ole buddy! Because of the drought we had here, I've been chainsawing dead 100+ foot trees out back all week. Ya start getting tired & you get a bit sloppy, my saw hasn't gotten away from me yet...but it's been trying! ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~

Snowwhite 0 #17 February 1, 2013 Quote I like pie after sex Sorry you have an owwy! I have dropped my chainsaw on my steel toed boots before, made the leather pretty ugly, didn't hurt my foot. Dumb me tho, I frequently grab the saw while wearing sneakers. If I leave my house, I have high impact glasses on. Period. They are so cheap and they have nice designs now. I learned that lesson after grabbing a plant and sticking it through my eye, then repeating it 3 years later. That surgery was no fun, and my vision hasn't been the same since. Zep 0 #23 February 2, 2013 Well here's one that flummoxed me a little, When the Doctor had finished rollicking me he told the nurse to put a silver patch over the wound, I quipped as quick as a flash "Oh so If I'd gone private would it be a gold patch" needless to say he wasn't amused. Turns out that the patch releases silver over a six day period and helps healing, Never heard of that one. Gone fishing

The big toe even almost 18 months on is still not fully as flexible as the other foot or what it used to be, i can't fully curl it . Due i guess to the tightness of the tendon. In saying that it does not really effect me i can now walk run and jump normally just little minor inconveniences after 6 months in physio. Its as good as it gets and i will take that as the other option was loosing the foot. I was out for 5 days and kept under while the orthopaedic and plastic surgeons worked to save it good luck Mate take your time Billy-Sonic Haggis Flickr-Fun
adagen 0 #25 February 2, 2013 Silver was used in the old days to prevent infection and it's getting popular again as a way of reducing antibiotic requirements. It's also being used in outdoor kit, particularly socks and base layers, to prevent them getting smelly so quickly Anne
