Ultimate Paper Airplane

Well, I don't know who Jame's May is or why he can make a claim to said plane...
I've been using that model since about 1969.
It works - Well.

That's the design I've been using since I was six, except that I fold the nose back in to make a flat bus-like nose. This seems to be a bit more stable than leaving it as a point like they do. I forget who showed me how to make them that way, I think it was either one of a couple of Chinese kids at my school or a Japanese kid who lived in my neighborhood.
I'm trying to teach myself how to set things on fire with my mind. Hey... is it hot in here?

The good old basic dart shape that my dad taught me has always served me well. I like it because you're always folding exactly to an edge or a crease that you've already made - helps make the design consistent and perfectly symmetrical.

There's too much unpredictability in James May's design for my liking - especially when it comes to making 'two tiny tears in each wing'. As for 'a dab of paper glue to hold the nose' - Glue? Sacrilege! :P

Ya know.. I just noticed that they stub the nose like we learned in Step 4, but then it looks pointy again in the rest of the the steps. That stub nose is what makes it work well... Well, that and the torn/folded up (elevators or ailerons since its a single wing). Used to love taking a ream of paper up to the roof and changing the configuration a little to go for distance and aerobatics. Course, this was all before the apps attack when we used to have to go outside and play. :D

Sorry - I didn't mean to addictify you.:o
I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama
