wolfriverjoe 1,523 #26 January 3, 2013 A couple of thoughts over a couple of days - #1 Who do you think we are? Miss Manners? You do realize that you are asking SKYDIVERS a question about etiquette that doesn't involve beer? #2 I should chastize you for forgetting to put "boobies" as a poll choice. It's mandatory here in the BF. But you posted your actual boobies at about the same time, so I'm not going to really complain. (Thanks for the pic, it was very much appreciated) Seriously, do what ever feels right to you. But keep in mind, actions have consequences. And I would advise against lying about it. I've always figured if an action requires telling a lie if asked about it, then it probably isn't something I should be doing in the first place. And also, it will be a very good "nice and honorable guy" repellent. I've always looked at the left hand, and any ring that is clearly a wedding band or engagement ring (and your is) is a shiny. sparkly STOP sign. I don't chase after married women. If I saw that on your left hand, I wouldn't flirt with you or ask you out. So the only guys who will ask you out if you are wearing it are the ones too stupid to notice it or too sleazy to care. The problem with selling it is that you won't get much for it unless you have a friend or family in the business. Jewelry stores and pawn shops are only paying about 10 cents on the dollar for diamonds lately. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Thanks to DeBeers and their cartel the wholesale price of diamonds is absurdly inflated. www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/1982/02/have-you-ever-tried-to-sell-a-diamond/304575/... Skyrad 0 #30 January 4, 2013 I knew the story as I have family in the diamond mining business in SA but that was a good read, thanks. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. blueblur 0 #32 January 4, 2013 QuoteQuoteI would agree that it could cause issues with new relationships. As a man, I would wonder if I were able to live up to the memory (I have a friend that is in the same boat, he will NEVER live up to his wife's 1st husband, she tells my wife that a lot). I agree to have it resized or set the stones into something else, that way the everlasting parts of the diamonds are still with you in a different way. I would do this myself with my wedding ring if she were to die. My wife died a couple of years ago. I keep our wedding rings in a drawer. Don't know what else to do with them. My wife has my original wedding ring, a tungsten/ceramic design. One of the ceramic rings broke, so I told her to keep it and I plan to make a 3-ring necklace with it.In every man's life he will be allotted one good woman and one good dog. That's all you get, so appreciate them while the time you have with them lasts. - RiggerLee
TriGirl 319 #33 January 5, 2013 popjumper Quote ... I hope you get a more mature guy in the future ... Easier said than done!! Quote Quote Posting a pic here for TriGirl. Shortly after he died, I was going to either give to his family (wasn't practical since fam is so small) or sell and donate money to charity in his name but friends convinced me to wait on it. Thanks for the pic. Not my personal style to wear as an accessory, but I can totally see the diamonds set in the same order/pattern in a lapel pin. It is a kind of popular style for engagement rings (a bit more bling to the round solitaire), so I'd put that in the solitaire category of my original post/suggestion. However, I also reference my other point (and that of so many others): if you like it, wear it. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
