Squeak 17 #26 November 26, 2012 Quote Quote I should have been clearer, and to confirm this was 1 of 3, so no award yet... Well sir, you may pick the low hanging fruit of our country's much easier award. Sorry we're not as fussy wussy as the Ozzies. when i first went to the states to jump I was invited on a shitload of jumps I would not be allowed to do hereYou are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! jimjumper 25 #29 November 26, 2012 While I took that last tandem, our last AFF student did his last jumps for his "A". While we did that Jim and Gail loaded up the school gear and memorabilia and closed permanently at the end of the day.
JohnMitchell 16 #30 November 26, 2012 Wow, what's the plan for them now? Quitting jumping or is Jim going to work at someone else's school?

Are you Ozzies restrictive on canopy progression? Seriously, that's the real killer, IMO.
jimjumper 25 #32 November 26, 2012 Jim is working with the military freefall school (TACAIR) in San Diego. Gail is working with Hollywood supplying props and gear for the movies.
hillson 0 #33 November 26, 2012 Good week... (stretching the topic, I know). C license, two night jumps, one high altitude (22K+), a day of competition 8-way...plus now cold enough for a toasty bonfire. 17ish jumps, I think. Saw three buddies pick up their A, too. Maybe the best part. :)

Sounds like some pretty good gigs. I wish them all the best.

Basically imagine lots and lots of carebear nanny state rules, and you have skydiving in Australia. I don't even bother jumping here any more, it's too expensive and restrictive. That having been said, I don't recall any actual regulation on canopy progression since I last went through the regs. On the bright side, depending on the DZ you might be allowed to jump through cloud.cavete terrae.

I call BULLSHIT, ya big poof, Tell me how our regs prohibited you from having fun skydives on a regular basis? 1200 jumps in OZ all of them great fun, some of them broke rules. Grue is just a big poof now, Melbourne living has turned him into a bleeding buttholeCome to Picton at Xmas Grue Ill buy you a few jumps (they are pricey) and I will guarantee you have a great fun time. Mainly I'm just bitter over the AAD requirement :P It's not that i don't want one, just that they add a lot of cost to an already expensive hobby where everyone knows the risks anyway. Anyway I'll be stateside for Xmas, but noted for future harassment :Pcavete terrae.
