I read 86% of the first book (coincidentally the first 9 episodes), then just had a marathon of the whole series. It was cool seeing the last episode w/o knowing how it was going to end.

Can't wait to read the last bit, and then, the next 3 books, and by then the next one should be available.

I hope that HBO doesn't drop the ball and the series.

This is the best thing since "Rome". A lot of characters to keep up with but really interesting characters.

I also really like "Treme". And Goddamn it. Ned Stark gets killed one week and Harly gets killed tha next week.

Yea... about that. Check out this dudes reaction. Was about the same as mine! :Dhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owf6D2vfZqM (NSFW language-wise)
Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

I watched the first episode. Sean "I'm always playing Boromir" Bean couldn't save that turkey. Having met George RR Martin back in his "B&B" days and read some of his other stuff, I think he should stick to the printed page and leave the screen to others who have a better feel for it. To be fair to Martin, however, it isn't easy to cross boundaries that way. Even Michael Crichton floundered a couple of times. Like Crichton, Martin has to let others bastardize his work to get it on the screen.

Perhaps Game of Thrones has found its legs and improved, but to me the first episode seemed phonier than "The Tudors" which wasn't all that great either, and not worth another look.

Yes, I'm difficult to please and not easily impressed. I have been a critic after all B|

However, if there are any episodes featuring Lena Headey nekkid and gettin' it on, I'd like to know which ones they are. :D:SB|

This is the ONLY reason I watched the first couple of episodes of "Spartacus" - so that I could see Lucy Lawless' naughty bits...:D:SB|

Yes, I can also be easily entertained/impressed; if the rest of the material is shite, at least there's some visuals.:D:SB|;)

The AudioBooks are also very good! Well written plot, well-written characters. Excellent fantasy.

Thanks, I'll look out for them.

I agree they are well written and lots of fun (except for book 4 - which was a major disappointment to me)

They need to video this guy's reaction when he sees the Red Wedding in the third season :D (probably the 4th season, since it looks like HBO is going to break up Book 3 into two seasons).

IMO they have completely with Season 2. I really really enjoyed Season 1 even having read the books, I though the changes they made were legitimate a fit the medium. But Season 2 was pitiful IMO, changes for no apparent reason (some because they dont believe their audience is very savvy apparently) and some that significantly degrade the plot, motivations and character development. The Song of Ice and Fire (aka the books) has some amazingly complex characters and plotlines and while I thought those were reflected very well in the 1st season (in many cases the actor/actresses portraying them did a great job of implying inner dialogue not delivered and scenes not shot) the 2nd season was completely disappointing.

and the farce that was the climactic battle of Blackwater..... A siege that should have involved tens of thousands had all of 100 and looked exactly like they were fighting over the tiny set... I know.. budget time.. blah blah but really HBO has all the budget they needed but are just spending it badly on the wrong things..

by way of comparison these battle scenes were made 30 years ago on a budget of 11m with no access to CGI and still represents the standard for "Medieval combat"

HBO has 1 episode in the 3rd season to prove to me they understand what makes the story great. Trust the text, trust your actors, stop reinventing the wheel.
