Daughter going to Chile

Recommended Posts

My little girl (OK, she's 22) is going to Chile to continue her Spanish education for a couple months.

She's flying into Santiago and has a ride to her guest home in Valparaiso.

Any places I should tell her to avoid?

Any must see, must do things?

Looking from sattelite maps it should be a beautiful part of the world to visit. I wanna go too.

I spent time down there but never made Chile. Stay in contact with her guest home chaperone and have them send you a list of their recommendations. Also, check the Department of State Travel Advisory page for Chile

This should be a starting point but looking for some more folks with first hand knowledge and boning up on the issues is better. It's a great opportunity and hope she has a great time!B|

This is pretty darn cool.

My daughter (at 22) was a student at Valparaiso (indiana). She went to UDLA (just south of Mexico City) for a semester for her Spanish minor. It was an incredible experience for her. :)
The one thing I would tell you to tell her to do (beside enjoy the whole experience) is don't go anywhere alone. [:/] Make it two. get her a phone with a GPS.

Sad advice, but.... Chances are she will have a great time, like my daughter did. :)
