I live in the same town as Founders, love Stouts, and finally get around to trying to get some KBS, and was out of town the 1st weekend it was available this year, by the next weekend, it was all gone. One week a year, so now I am waiting until March 2013. Sigh. It's flare not flair, brakes not breaks, bridle not bridal, "could NOT care less" not "could care less". skydiver30960 0 #33 March 26, 2012 I am not too much of a beer snob, although I'm not a fan of typical American beers (Bud, Miller, Coors, etc.) I tend to prefer lagers. I can also handle a easy-going ale, but also get turned off as the brew becomes heavier and more bitter. I will never be a threat to the supply of stouts, porters, and any of the other really heavy beers. Those of you who prefer them, are welcome to them. peregrinerose 0 #34 March 26, 2012 Seth, I have 2 bottles each of 2010, 2011, and 2012 KBS in my beer 'cellar' as I type :-) Hoping to do a MI trip this fall, supposedly to visit my relatives that live there, but really to hit Founders and Bells breweries! They are 'ales' in the same way that dark chocolate is chocolate. I won't touch a straight ale, but IPAs, especially double and triples.. yum. And home brew sounds wonderful!!!! shropshire 0 #42 March 26, 2012 For me it's individual beers that I like or dislike (even some largers are O.K - but they have to taste of something not just be coloured ice cold water!). I was recently at a CAMRA beer festival in a local town - had some great, some indifferent and also some not so good at all beers.... that's the beauty of beer ... there's something to suit all tastes. billvon 3,072 #46 March 26, 2012 >Budweiser is also technically an ale... What most people know as Budweiser (i.e. the beer sold by AB-Inbev, called Budweiser in stores) is fermented cold with a lager yeast. The BJCP categorizes it as a 1B, Standard American Lager. However they are also making something called "Budweiser American Ale" or something. I actually don't mind either one. While it's not my favorite brewery, I am pretty impressed by their quality control and consistency. >and vote for subcategories of actual beer A handy guide to all the categories of beer: http://www.bjcp.org/styles04/

billvon 3,072 #49 March 26, 2012 >Great list, but that's 6, no? Realized I couldn't leave Bourbon County out . . . We get spoiled down here with so much good beer available. The local tiny liquor store (owned by two Pakistani brothers who are _always_ there) carries about 200 different beers from everywhere from Belgium to New Zealand to Norway. And of the 40 odd breweries in San Diego I can only think of a few that actually make bad beer.
