I understand the concept of having a devils advocate. Having a mentor that has the opposite beliefs as you sounds fucking retarded and something a democrat would think up.

Yes, If I was looking for a mentor, I would want someone who had a similar world-view, not someone who would tell me that I would be so much better if only I would defect. Which is not to say that I would want someone who would say "Yay!" no matter what.
