jgoose71 0 #31 February 26, 2012 I've always been fond of the Mickey Mouse watches. In the immortal words of George Carlin: "Is it 6:15, or does Mickey have a hard-on?"http://www.amazon.com/Disney-Womens-MK1006-Mickey-Mouse/dp/B002YK5W7U/ref=sr_1_6?s=watches&ie=UTF8&qid=1330214502&sr=1-6 You have to imagine the watch reading 6:15........ catfishhunter 2 #32 February 26, 2012 They have to "speak" to me. I'm poor so I look at price and re-sale value as one day my kids will inherit them unless my son or my daughter ends up marrying someone that likes watches they will most likely sell most of them. I have a 5 tags a couple movado's and 2 rolex's and I am wearing a Breitliing Aviator ( think that is what it is) that I'm going to have checked out when I get home to make sure it is legit that I'm going to trade out equipment for with a customer. Each of those are selling for way more in the used market then what I paid so I'm pretty happy with my collection :) Now what I really really want is a white gold Daytona but 30k just isn't in the wife's household budget MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT Life is Short and we never know how long we are going to have. My old watches are dead in a drawer and I couldn't care less. jon My dad was a Master Jeweler & Horologist among other things. ...when he passed mom gave me his watches, 50 or 60 rare, classic, one of a kind, many over 100 years old and in perfect condition. Left over stuff from his Jewelry store and some he collected because of weird 'interest'. I wear a 30 year old Seiko dive watch I bought new. Keeps perfect time, it's damn near bulletproof. My dad always wore a 10 dollar Westclox...keeps better time than any Rolex he use to say, and I keep the 'extra' 9,990 dollars a Rolex would have cost me invested. What most people don't realize, expensive watches are a lot like diamonds...BTW...the reason for the thread is because the other night some smammer program was posting ads in bonfire for watches and handbags, fake ones of course. ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
BillyVance 34 #36 February 27, 2012 I've got a Seiko watch stashed somewhere, probably in the attic that I stopped wearing some 15 odd years ago. It got scratched up a bit when I bumped it by accident. Haven't worn a watch on a daily basis since I quit running in 1990. My blackberry does everything I need it for and more. MikeJD 0 #40 February 27, 2012 "Five long years, he wore this watch up his ass. Then when he died of dysentery, he gave me the watch. I hid this uncomfortable piece of metal up my ass for two years. Then, after seven years, I was sent home to my family. And now, little man, I give the watch to you." The last watch I bought cost £1 at Primark. It's nasty, but it tells me the time when I don't have my phone on me.
