Markj 0 #1 January 24, 2005 Does anybody know how to find out the version of software that is running on a Neptune? Also the serial number? Also is it possible to change the temprature from farenheit to celcius? Thanks M.J
voodew1 0 #2 January 24, 2005 put it in demo mode and go thru the demo you will find the version and serial # - the serial number should be on the back under the wrist strap also. The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
Markj 0 #3 January 24, 2005 Aha! Sweet, thanks for that. I bought it second hand so I never took the strap off it yet to see the serial number. M.J
jerry81 10 #4 January 24, 2005 Quote Also is it possible to change the temprature from farenheit to celcius? Enabling metric units (System->Options 2->Metric Units) also makes the temperature display celsius.
Markj 0 #5 January 24, 2005 Ah ok thanks, I tried that but it didn't seem to work but I have just noticed that it is now showing in celcius.. Does that also make it show the altitude in metres?
dragon2 2 #6 January 24, 2005 Yes. However if you have an alti-2 field representative near you they may be able to change that, so the temp is oC but the alti is still in ft and the speed in mph. I am a fieldrep however and I never did get the program to do that for me, but I've seen it done and some of the neptunes we have here in The Netherlands have gotten that mod straight from alti-2. ciel bleu, Saskia
Markj 0 #7 January 24, 2005 Thanks, I will have to find out and see if there are any field reps near me. Thats what I would like, the temp in dec celcius and speed in mph and altitude in feet. Maybe they will allow you to change this in a future software release? M.J
IanHarrop 41 #8 January 24, 2005 Goto to the Alti-2 website and to get the list of local field reps, there are a number of them in the UK. http://www.alti-2.com/FieldSupportLocatorPages/_United_Kingdom.htm They have access to a downloadable program called "Control Panel" that will easily let them adjust your Neptune so it reads in Feet and Celsius at the same time. While visiting your rep its a good idea to get your software upgraded at the same time. You can do it yourself if you have an IR port on your computer and feel comfortable doing these kind of things. If you are at all uncomfortable, get a rep to do it. Even though I am not a swooper, I really like the additional alarms that are available with the 2.3 software once under canopy."Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
Markj 0 #9 January 24, 2005 Cool, thanks a lot. M.J
IanHarrop 41 #10 January 24, 2005 BTW, it's a good idea to visit Alti-2's registration page and get your information into the database. http://www.alti-2.com/registration.htm By registering your product you increase the chances that it will be returned to you should something bad happen. By example right now the at the bottom of stolen page, it shows the serial number of a Neptune that was found. Bet who ever owned that device wishes they had registered it."Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
Markj 0 #11 January 24, 2005 Yup, will do that asap. cheers M.J
dragon2 2 #12 January 24, 2005 Well alti2 just sent me the answer (probably, haven't tried this yet) to why I couldn't get a neptune in oC: "If you are not in the US, here is a trick to make the Neptune Control Panel write user settings, including changing to Centigrade while keeping altitude in feet: switch Regional & Language Options in Windows to US (American). " Owkee, that explains a lot ciel bleu, Saskia
IanHarrop 41 #13 January 24, 2005 Yea I got that in the newsletter too. It sounds like it would be easier for a field rep to do this change using the Control Panel available from the field rep site. Its just a check box in the Control Panel."Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

Well yeah, but I never got the control panel program to work: if I checked oC all I got were time-outs. But I have a dutch winXP, which apperantly explains it... ciel bleu, Saskia
Markj 0 #15 January 25, 2005 Haha, ok I guess I will have to wait and see if I can get hold of a rep or.. Carry around a calculator in pocket to work out farenheit to celcius.. Its not really that important. Just a luxury I suppose. Thanks M.J
IanHarrop 41 #16 January 25, 2005 I agree that its not important - from Alti-2's website: ------------------------- The temperature sensor is very accurate, but it is reading the internal Neptune temperature - NOT air temperature. Since we have to measure the internal temperature, we decided to display the result. ------------------------- So knowing the temperature is going to mean that you know the internal temperature of the device."Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

It worked very well for me, but as you say... we're on different versions of XP."Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
