ltdiver 3 #1 November 20, 2011 In relation to another thread comparing Droid, iPhone, and Blackberries, the topic of upload and download speeds came into the discussion. For my own education, and perhaps others who are looking at purchasing a new smart phone, lets see how our phones compare. For the interest of comparing cell phone provider's internet speeds, rather than WiFi location hot spots, lets just use pure 3G and 4G only. Turn off your WiFi setting as this will skew the test. Everyone download http://www.speedtest.net/ and post the location where you are testing from. For instance, I don't live in Los Angeles, however that is the nearest hub where this test can ping from. I have an iPhone 4s (which runs on 3G dual antenna). Provider: AT&T Location: Los Angeles ping: 148ms Download 3.03 Mbps Upload: .95 Mbps Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

champu 1 #10 November 20, 2011 iPhone 3Gs, iOS 5.0.1, and at&t (the program insists on connecting to a server in Kansas, which explains the poor ping performance) Ping: 208 ms D/L: 3.05 Mbps U/L: 0.27 Mbps For comparison, my cable modem (Road Runner/Time Warner) on my home computer connecting to Los Angeles yields... I've got to ditch this stupid DSL and find a faster pipe to my house. Same here, however every time I call in to my provider they claim they can't get me any faster speed here at my house. For comparison, again here at my home, see attachments below: Comparing iPhone 4s on 3G, iPhone 4s on Earthlink DSL (the fastest they can provide me, they say), and Computer (Macbook PRO) on Earthlink. Yes, and thus the decision of speed vs service is the crux of this tread. ltdiver 3 #16 November 20, 2011 People: Don't forget to put your service provider in as well. AT&T touts that its 3G service on the new iPhone 4s is faster than Verizon's 3G. I've seen this first hand, yet would like more feedback on this. They also claim that their dual antenna with the iPhone 4s (on AT&T's 3G) is close to 4G speeds. I highly doubt this, but would like to see just how far off they are in this claim. I see that Sprint, as already guessed, sucks at its connection speed.
