Need some opinions...

I am considering of buying a rig that has a talon container with 595 jumps on it, but its clean and in good shape from the picture I have seen. The main canopy is a Spectre 210 with 577 jumps on it, and the lines were replaced around 400 jumps. The cypress has had its battery replaced but will not be airworthy after 2007...The price is about $2500

Is the container and the main canopy too worn out? Will they last another 300 jumps? Is this rig even worth buying? I will be able to jump it a couple of times to get a feel for it, but is it going to last for about 4 more years?

1. Put a reserve in it and try it on before you even consider buying it. It will NOT fit correctly without canopies in it. If it does fit:

2. Have a rigger inspect it. Make sure all SB's have been complied with so there are no suprises. Make sure he inspects the main for sun damage and center topskin damage from careless packing.

>Is the container and the main canopy too worn out?

You can easily get 1000 jumps out of a Spectre as long as you care for it and replace the lines every 400-500 jumps. A container will last that long as long as you take care of wear items (like velcro and broken stiffeners.)

>The price is about $2500

Is that with reserve? If so, it's a decent deal. You can easily get another 500 jumps out of it; likely 1000.

One of the riggers on the boards here can give you more detail *cough*RiggerRob*cough*, but you really should check to make sure it has hard housings. Not the half and half, not soft housings, but total hard housings (I'm talking about the rig specifically, not the risers, but you should have them on the risers as well).

It has a main and a cypres and no reserve?

If it has a good reserve, this is a fair price.

You can always check the source. This is a small community. Ask the seller which rigger has been maintaining his gear, then give him/her a shout and ask for any heads up on repairs or maintenance that might need to be performed.

Also make sure you check the size of the main lift web and yoke to see if the fit is in your range of acceptability.

Measure from the hole in your throat to the top of your hip bone. Then your chest and waist. PM me if you need help with that.
